sorry but so what? does it make it right? syria is a secular country, that was one of the good thing about it. now not only are they not bringing democracy of freedom, but on top of that they want to take down secularism.
also, they have no legitimacy to try anyone, who gave them the right to be judge jury and executioners?
and this has nothing to do with law justice or religion, please dont pretend you're buying that excuse!it is nothing more than a mafia-like payback for an oil deal that went wrong.

whoa peeps.. again I do not believe anyone has the right to kill in the name of God for anything.. including an insult to God.. wether this was an oil deal gone wrong is another topic all together... but just pointing out that blasphemy is punishable by death in many a country and is not a monopoly of the takfiris as you put it.

and just one more thing arzak, i tried looking up cases of capital punishments for blasphemy in iran and didnt find any that went through.
they were usually short prison sentences (still not justified in my opinion) and a couple of death sentences that were handed down in 2007 and 2004 but were reversed and turned into 2 and 3 years sentences.

i'm not saying it's a monopoly, but they sure are big players in the death market.

and do you the story of the kid who was executed with a bullet in the mouth and one in the head, for blasphemy?
he actually refused to give them a special discount that they were asking for, and they insisted saying that he MUST give them a discount because they are the soliders of god or whatever. the kid answered "even if mohammad himself came down on earth i wouldn't give him that discount". that was what he was "tried" and sentenced to death for.
very similarly to the present case, it seems the islamic law happened to be very conveniently aligned with their financial interests, showing once more if needed that they are just a bunch of self-glorified looters and rapists.

We should thank those God defenders. It is all Baath fault for secular culture full of no-crime terrorists. Baath made Syria: a religousless peaceful punch of terrorists who barely had a crime. What a filthy culture: no raping women, no molesting children, no harrassing Christians, no beheading for stealing, no atrocity on the poor, free education for all... yes arzak i saw those and read them. "selected cases" section in the "blasphemy in iran" link is what i based my previous comment on when i said death sentences were not being applied.

mowaten, in the second link it clearly states that the punishment for blasphemy is death penalty or imprisonment...
this is from the penal code of Iran. and you can find it in the Islamic Republic chapter, under the Hadd Crimes section.

This should be a given... Iran, like KSA follows Sharia Law, and as such, and under Sharia Law, blasphemy is punishable by death.

you're arguing over a point which i actually acknowledged when i said death sentences were handed down in iran but then reversed.

and you dont need to preach me over that because i said that even prison sentences are not justified, so obviously i completely oppose death sentences in those cases.

however there is a big difference between having it in the law and applying it.
