"وورلد تريبيون": إسرائيل تستعد لشن حرب قصيرة وحاسمة ضد حزب الله

Read this story in English W460

This is very upsetting to hear the enemy is planning to wipe out HA in a very short time period and destroy most of their targets in a single day.

Thumb sevilla 18:54 ,2013 كانون الأول 18

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.... Israel and hizballah are one and the same. They need each other to exist. This is all talk and can only serve to further HA claim to its fraudulent existence.

It will be short and decisive but not the results Israel is hoping for.

Thumb ironlikelion 22:01 ,2013 كانون الأول 18

The article is based on the perspective and conclusion of an analyst, so whether or not it is true we don't know, I guess time will tell. It said that in 2006 1 of every 10 homes in Lebanon was used by the hezb to either launch or store weapons... I'm not sure if this is still the case, but if it is and you are the owner of one of these homes, maybe now is a good time change that so you can protect yourselves, your real estate and your other assets...

Thumb ironlikelion 23:18 ,2013 كانون الأول 18

Well, I'm sorry that you have problem taking my "advice". I am Israeli, as I have reflected through my avatar so that people can see that I am not trying to pretend to be Lebanese while promoting an Israeli perspective. Whenever I post a comment, it is only because I feel inclined to do so; I am not a part of any organization and am not paid by anyone to post. The "peace-sign" inside the star of david in my avitar represents my desire for peace with our neighbors; a desire I share with most other Israelis.

Thumb ironlikelion 23:37 ,2013 كانون الأول 18

I was just suggesting that people who have been allowing their family homes to be used by hezb to store and/or launch rockets/missiles might be doing themselves and their families a favor by not allowing the hezb to turn their bedrooms into military targets. I know i would not allow the IDF to turn my personal property into a military target- not that they would ever ask that of me, just as the LAF would probably not ask that of the Lebanese population.

Thumb ironlikelion 23:42 ,2013 كانون الأول 18

And just to clarify, I was not trying to give "advice"; it was just a logical suggestion i offered with the hope that it helps to prevent unnecessary destruction and pain to people who don't deserve it.

mr.black, how negative and uninformed you are, trying to send people back to the countries which they chose to leave, to come and live in the land promised to them by our religious ancestors (whether christian or muslim). He mentioned peace and that the desire for peace is shared among most of israelites, yet all you can respond with is negative feedback and give no chance for a peaceful dialogue amongst both of you. US REAL (&TRUE) LEBANESE DO NOT NEED ADIVCE FROM YOU Mr.Black.

The Quran, chapter 5 (Al-Ma'ida), verse 20-107:
“And [remember] when Moses said to his people: 'O my people, ... enter the Holy Land which God has assigned unto you, and turn not back ignominiously, for then will ye be overthrown, to your own ruin "

You are an ignorant Lebanese person whether christian or muslim or whatever religion you may hail from. So will be the children who listen and learn (unfortunately) to your sorry ignorance.

Whether you want to believe it or not, the IDF cares very much about preserving innocent life. Are you trying to say that the hezb does not use civil infrastructure (including: personal residences, hospitals, schools...)? I know that they have in the past, and as a compassionate person, I hope that they have abandoned this practice. As for the incident at the UN facility in Qana, it is a black mark on our history that i can not defend.

Thumb ironlikelion 00:18 ,2013 كانون الأول 19

If the IDF does not care about preserving innocent life, answer me this: Why have the recent alleged Israeli strikes in Syria caused hardly any collateral damage?

Thumb ironlikelion 02:12 ,2013 كانون الأول 19

If I don’t instantly respond to a post, it’s probably not because I’ve been “shut up”, but rather because I am not sitting here monitoring the page for comments for new comments to respond to. Listen, I'm not going to blindly support and defend every single action of the IDF if I don’t believe it was right (unlike some of the sheep here do for the hez); many of the accusations you mentioned fall under that category, so I will not try to make excuses or justifications. I am not trying to portray the IDF as a flawless angel of a military; no large organization can operate without flaw and it’s a shame when it happens. I am not proud of everything the IDF has done over the years, but I view these incidences to be exceptions rather than the norm. I am familiar with the moral and ethical standards that the IDF goes to great lengths to uphold and I AM proud of that. The examples I gave of strikes in Syria are by no means the full list of examples that come to mind.

Thumb ironlikelion 02:17 ,2013 كانون الأول 19

I just hope that one day we will all be able to move past our resentments of each other and develop a neighborly relationship and alliance. I know I'm not the only one here to feel this way

Thumb ironlikelion 02:47 ,2013 كانون الأول 19

And as I said, I am aware of examples that raise the question of IDF moral integrity so I don't need you to list more examples because will likely be the same. Remember, war is ugly; any organization that is engaged in a war or battle is subject to committing acts of violence and destruction, then to make matters worse, it is one of the most difficult situations effectively regulate because of the number of people involved and unpredictable/rapidly changing developments on the ground. But in a situation that is most difficult to employ morals and values, I know that the IDF does make it a priority.
To answer your question about al-qeada, I am certain that Israel would not take such risks in Syria for al-queda scum bags, the fact that the benefit from from it is just coincidence.

How many wars will it take for Lebanon to realize they can't withstand they Israeli military power. Reference to 2006 war continues to paint a picture that Hizzbullah won decisively. True that Israeli soldiers faced unexpected field challenges, the result was utter destruction to Lebanon and its infrastructure. In 2006, wealthy Arab nations financially helped Shia regions to rebuild but after the Syrian war, these nations will not offer the same help. Keep talking big, I would pray that another war will with Israel don't start, the results will be devastating to Lebanon and the recovery this time will not be as quick. Anyone that thinks to the contrary is simply not factual.

Thumb ironlikelion 03:48 ,2013 كانون الأول 19

@ mr. black
It seems to me that you’re understanding of the establishment and history of modern Israel is not very thorough and quite frankly I don’t have the time to educate you, so I suggest you read about it from a couple of different sources, preferably objective ones.
Yes, I am familiar with the Debka.com, as I read it daily in addition to many other publications (including Naharnet). There is a difference between Saudi-Israeli collaboration and Israeli-al-qaeda collaboration, I can see how this might confuse you though.
But I guess you have it all figured out… Who am I to wake you up from your dream?

Thumb ironlikelion 04:16 ,2013 كانون الأول 19

If you are in fact a student of history, you disguise it quite well by oversimplifying and failing to appreciate significant events that contributed to the situation we have today. The Palestinians didn't have a sovereign state, but they were offered one along side the state of Israel- which they refused. You also overlooked that Palestinians left their homes voluntarily Because Transjordan promised them they will be able to return after the Jews were "driven in to the sea". These are details, among others, that shouldnt be ignored

Thumb ironlikelion 06:36 ,2013 كانون الأول 19

@mr. black
To the contrary, I fully understand the true complexity of the situation and and appreciate each side's argument. While you on the other hand, are the one with an incredibly "one sided" view that clearly demonstrates either a lack of knowledge or refusal to recognize the legitimacy of the opposing argument and the information that supports it. Your underestimation of the situation's complexity proves that you are no history scholar and you shouldn't label yourself as one in order to spare your professor the humiliation.

Thumb ironlikelion 06:41 ,2013 كانون الأول 19

@ texas
Actually, I am aware of recent polls that resulted in the majority of Israelis supporting a two state solution and the government generally seems to support it as well. In my opinion the majority of those opposed to the two state solution are skeptical of what the final results will yield; the refusal to recognize Israel’s right to exist help calm to that skepticism. The Palestinian “leadership” has had numerous opportunities to establish for the first time in history, an independent state of their own and have chosen a different path. Additionally people find it hard to view this round of negotiations to even be capable of achieving a true two state solution because it clearly does not include Gaza; the question of Gaza is a serious one and seems to be neglected while discussing peace during this round of talks.

I don't know, Israel is doing what, playing a war of informing us to misinform us? It's been on it for a while now, wants to attack Iran with various plans on hand, now it's doing the same towards Hezbollah? So what will Israel do this time, use depleted uranium? And what does Hezbollah want, to keep upstaging the Lebanese state? I will read this bit of news, yet I would neither believe nor disbelief. Bad news is never broadcast ahead of its time, when it comes it comes, that all.
