Oh great, another Saudi puppet running for the Lebanese Presidency.
Fal ya7kom al ikhwan!
(2). Karim. FYI, I still remember vividly the never ending feud between Hezbollah and Michel Aoun, then when HA signed the MOU with him, he became the most trustworthy person ever. Geagea is certainly not our best choice, but then it was said, "Thou shalt not see the speck of dust in thy brother's eye, yet ignore the log in yours" A bon entendeur.
(1). Karim, not that I'm too hot on Geagea, but in view of all the illicit power grabbing by Hezbollah and its M8 allies, why did you take this position of ignoring them all, yet focus on Geagea's candidacy? Masalan, less than a couple of months ago, M8, led by Hezbollah was all poison on M14, Mustaqbal and Saad Hariri, now a day went by without the M8 alliance venting its loathe on him and Mustaqbal, then all of a sudden when some accommodation was found, Hariri became a wise guy for you people. I am in no doubt whatsoever that if you made a deal with Geagea where cohabitation was made possible between his side and yours, Geagea would have become for you the very best of all words and words.
FD bro, can't agree with you here, so I must stick to my guns on this one. Power grabbing indeed. I remember well, M14 had won two clear mandates, Sayed Hassan admitted defeat twice and in public, only to recant everything and pressure Saad Hariri for a so-called government of national unity, when in fact M14 had won convincingly and was to form its own government. Must we forget the many moves to strangle Hariri? Must we forget why his father was killed, probably knowing who killed him too? The power that HA or its M8 alliance did not win the people's hearts and minds, on the very contrary, it stroke absolute fear in them. Now it looks that the tide has indeed begun to change, I call it shifting times.
FD bro, you want the truth, I would rather be Israel's north than Syria's West, my honest opinion if I was given no choice but one of the two.
Yes yes, we're very nervous about a party that's barely bigger than the Marada party. The LF needs to actually win a seat in Mt. Lebanon before we get scared of it.
Did your Nasrallah tell the Lebanese people anything for his past, present, and future crimes. Oh wait: Had I Known....". You sectarian people have no shame...
No ya Karim, better say, Geagea a man of his time that's all. During the war, Geagea was the very mirror of those he faced, Berri, Nasrallah, Jumblat, Hafez Al Assad, Yasser Arafat, Gaddafi, Michel Aoun wou Rabak 3alim shou kamen. Today in peace time Geagea is yet again the very mirror of those he faces, again, most of the old faces. However it must be pointed out that I have yet to see, or hear just once a time where Geagea insulted, derogated, ridiculed or incited anyone towards violence, something most of his opponents lack. Then again, some years ago, it was on a Saturday, when Geagea made his Mea Culpa, or his apology in public and in front of all the media. yet till today, NOT one of his opponent has shown that kind of courage. As I said, it's simply a world of mirrors, never a sweet thing as the mirror never lies to you, and that's why Geagea does not please everyone.
No disagreement from me there. The Lebanese warlords also have blood on their hands and should be held to the same standard as Geagea. However, I do feel that Geagea is sometimes under the delusion that he is a saint.
Ya haram. This guys is off with the fairies. He forgot he is a convicted murderer who was never pardoned of his crimes but only released as part of a deal between the state and Islamists at the expense of a free Lebanon. This guy will end up in pieces just like Hobeika.
pesce d'aprile runs everyday in marab?
The guy's obviously delusional if he thinks he's good for the country. I'm even amazed to still see him in politics with all his failures and flipfloping and constant breaking of his sect's back.
He'll have to learn it the hard way I guess. Anybody think he'll stop politics when the public outrights rejects him and shatters his delusional reality?
let the president be voted by the people and then whoever wins is a legitimate democratic president
member of parliament can be bought
but all the Lebanese people cannot be bought
god bless democracy (power to the people )
Ah dear Hanoun, I do agree with you on a whole, but where you mentioned about the people I slammed my brakes and for good reasons. Sadly, the truth is more like, most people can be bought these days, just come over and have a look for yourself. Then when things go sour, we return to our age-old habits, blame and blame the politicians, as if they the politicians did not know about us.
Geagea obstructs all governance and now he wants to be president! Can anyone imagine 6 years of presidential obstruction ?
Well anyway ... Geagea's term at president might not be long lived if he thinks he will dictate to HA about Syria ...
MC, Geagea did not obstruct governance, with all due respects to your views, I believe that he obstructs HA's and Aoun's aims, most of which are truly unholy. For all I know, Geagea has the guts to stand and not bow to pressure. No wonder his enemies, past and present hate him that much, and till now find no shortage of words to accuse him of all wrongs and even go as far as to expunge him.
Geagea didn't even follow up with their coalition partners in M14. Geagea just went his own way ... And Geagea is going to be president?
Geagea has been at the forefront of the obstruction of governance in Lebanon ... His inability to strike deals is a deal breaker.
Geagea for 6 years as president? You might as well invite the IMF in right now cause you'll get a better deal now than after Geagea gets through.
I favor Hanoun's suggestion. People should vote for their own president. However, in a country such as Lebanon where the laws of war have ruled for so many years and people have killed in the name of religion and still do to this day, i prefer keeping this election at the helm of our parliament.
FD, maybe, maybe, from prisoner to president, maybe. But in Aoun's case, should it not be something like: From luxury exile to luxury retirement? Even the sprawling villa he lives in is a property he is now refusing to return back to its owner. Doesn't that say a thing or two about Geagea's main opponent? Lest we focus on the rest.
Mass Murderer vs Egomaniac Traitor and Defector (and also mass murderer) ?
They all have blood on their hands and none deserve to be president.
@Southern : Hezbollah does not get to dictate who our ennemies are and aren't !
Israel is an enemy of Lebanon and we don't need Hezbollah to remind us of this or even "protect us".
Takfiris / Al-Qaeda are enemies too.
Bashar el Assad is also an enemy. His regime is responsible for robbing our country, murdering tens of thousands of Lebanese, bombing Lebanon, bombing tripoli recently. Why is he not an enemy ? Remind me !
Hezbollah is not Lebanon's dictator and will not tell us who our enemy is. This is final. Otherwise, HEZBOLLAH IS THE ENEMY !
@Southern : Because your are the HA Ambassador on this site !
"Bashar represents Syria" : Not anymore ! Accept that ... he represents himself only.
"The past is over" : no, it is not. People need to be held accountable for their actions. No way to let things go. Someone has to pay for all the crimes that were committed !
Habib, if you take a 360 Degrees turn, you will notice that Geagea is indeed a dwarf among murderers. Please, open your eyes and kindly do make that turn, one will be quite sufficient.
You will make a fine president, Dr. Geagea! Stay tuned for updates on the NDU master blaster club elections!
Then repeat after me: Gaga no Gaga no, Aoun yes Aoun yes. Obama shat ap yer face Obama. Gaga no Gaga no!
I know I posted it somewhere else but just couldn't resist posting it here. LOL.
SG knows the MOU, Teaf, and Baabda deserve to be left in the refuse of the past. He overcame persecution and the LF rose from the ashes to be the party of the youth. The flame of the cause may have been extinguished with Bachir, but the dream lives on in the hearts of those who seek a self serving Lebanon!
He probably is and with all due respect to him, I don't think he knows what he's talking about. I remember friends of my younger brother who were still at uni arguing with me how great the LF were and how what they did was so great etc... The LF campaign heavily in universities to influence the naive. They were all born after the war ended and knew nothing about what happened. I don't blame them really as how can they possible know. I lived through the whole of the war and saw horrible things with my own eyes as I'm sure many here have. Shame such a shame. Geagea should never be president. It would be a disgrace to the presidency and the nation as a whole.
@wolf I only speak the truth. If some don't know then they need to hear it to know. I'm glad you agree. All the best
Please explain to me why my comment was deleted? It is outrageous that that has happened. I never use foul language and I only mentioned facts as I lived them. Freedom of speech is dead in our country. Shame on you
