جعجع لعون: "لنتفق على رئيس او لنتنافس"

Read this story in English W460

Hakim you are the only one trying to find a credible solution to our problems, god bless every truly patriotic Lebanese. You have not only pioneered the way we now measure our presidential hopefuls but have demonstrated a mature approach to tackling the real issues in Lebanon, and time and again you extend your hand to those who are lessor than you yet feel the world owes them everything. unfortunately aoun is not man enough to swallow his pride and accept your offer as he truly believes he is the messiah of Lebanon. Hakim for president...

But according to the "report" your Hakim seems to be seeking someone other than your Hakim for president, as if the Hakim is the shaker baker of Lebanese politics! Too bad the Syrian occupation army is no longer in Lebanon for him to jump once again into their arms and scheme with them against ebn balado...

Missing forces 11:05 ,2014 أيار 29

Wrong shobhan that is according to you. Geagea is trying to find a solution to the mess aoun and HA have put us in. Once again he is offering constructive solutions. Does it not appear logical that the two main Christian representatives sit down and find agreement??? Unbelievable. Had aoun thought of this your tone would clearly be different but a typical aouniye does not accept common sense.

Sorry flame thrower but the LF's artillery was more effective than the Lebanese army's during the war of liberation, especially in August 1989 and the attack on Souk al Gharb. For three consecutive days the Syrian artillery launched a fierce non stop barrage on the free zone and by the third day most of the Lebanese Army and Lebanese forces artillery had been almost silenced with only the LF guns in Jouret El Termos in mountains of Keserwan still able to keep sustainable fire. The front of Souk al Gharb was breached under the cover of intense Syrian bombing by fighters from PSP,SSNP, Communist and Baath with pro Syrian Palestinians but were destroyed right there by the Jouret El Termos guns before they could get a foothold. During the four day battle those gun hit Syrian targets in the Bekaa. General Aoun himself sent a personal commendation to each and everyone of those gunner.

If Hakim does not want Aoun to become president, why is it that he so desperately wants him to run for the presidency? Secondly, if it is Geagea vs Aoun, how does this guarantee that one of them will become president? Which one of them has 65 votes? if neither, what's the point?

(1) This picture used for this thread is an old one, dating back to the days of the Doha treaty. All the same, both leaders now to sit together and without any coaching either and let both do the right thing, to understand that both of them can no longer provide any new solutions to an enduring problem. If both men have at heart the well-being of the nation, then they should right now sit together in an atmosphere of cordiality and entente, and chose together a candidate that will be mandated to fill in this most sensitive of posts. Some may think that this post is constitutionally allocated to the Christians, sure, that's correct, but what many should know is this:

Thumb -phoenix1 13:59 ,2014 أيار 29

(2)....that Lebanon is right now bleeding economically and without a president this country is doomed to the kind of failures that possibly eradicate Lebanon form the map sooner than we may dare to know. Yesterday alone, the overwhelming sight of so many Syrians blocking our main roads to elect a new president should make us all think hard. Let there be a new president, yesterday before today.

Thumb -phoenix1 14:04 ,2014 أيار 29

(3). For once, let us ALL pause, let us stop to think of ourselves as LFers, or FPMers, or Hizbis, or Mustaqbal, Amal, let us start thinking even if temporarily, as Lebanese, pure and simple. Let us elect our new president who will in case have to be consensual, and let us start finding solutions instead of stacking them up and up. Our predicament is so bad that only our unity and common sense will save us. Should we as Lebanese continue to fight each other, yet continue to ignore the mounting presence of non-Lebanese on our soil, then the day may come sooner than we know, when the foreigner will show us the way out, out of our Lebanon. If your leaders don't want you to wake up, then sit and pause, think well, our direction is not good at all, either we will slam a solid wall, or fall off a cliff. All of you, please wake up, leave the parties for now and think of the only Lebanon we have, hopefully for sometime if only we can wake up.

Thumb -phoenix1 14:05 ,2014 أيار 29

I wish the Islamo fascist Hezbollah can think this way. But their mandate, given by the Islamic Republic of Iran, is different.
At the end all they want is power, money and impose their interpretation of Islam on all of us and to gain legitimacy and more power they have to (sort of fight) Israel.
They might turn tactical, (the way they did with the present cabinet), and go for someone like Jean Kahwaji or Jean Obeid but they will never relinquish their goal to subjugate all of us to their rule.

Geagea's proposal is the only rational sane way to resolve the impasse. Both should engage the electoral process in Parliament. When neither can get to the 65 votes needed, then both should sit down, and agree, with Patriarch as mediator if necessary, to a Geagea/Aoun Consensus candidate to be presented to Parliament for vote.

The only sensible rational way to proceed under the present circumstances.

Michel Aoun in a 1995 Interview about Assad's regime:

"Aoun:They are very well versed and specialized in the torture of people and in the disrespect of human rights. I consider Damascus to be the anti-Geneva; Geneva is the city of the international standards, Damascus is thus the anti-Geneva. There are about thirty or so ways to torture people: fingernails, fire, and so forth. There are people who were in prison who got out -- they were the lucky ones -- after strong political pressure was applied. They tell of these things and many times carry scars on their body."
