So HA nominate someone who hasn't even nominated himself, Sunnis, or some of them, nominate someone who is not accepted by anyone, and the patriarchate nominates nobody. Why ?
And what is the problem with Bkirki officially naming a few candidates to the presidency?
@FT : the only way for people to vote through a referendum is to first abolish all political parties that are sectarian and participated in the war.
As long as Sunnis and Shiaas will decide who the next president will be, then this is out of the question.
We need to create new divisions, socialists, democrats, liberals, communists, whatever other ideology to resegment the population in order to elect a president based on merits and program.
You can say a lot of things about Jamil Al Sayyed but this guy is a great manager. He did a great job when he was in charge of General Security Directorate and today, once again, he was visionary when he called for a federal state in Lebanon:

Wow!
A good manager is always visionary. He knows that things can only be resolved in a rational way. And Jamil Al Sayyed truly understood that the only way is FEDERALISM.
Bravo Mr. Al Sayyed! Your cartesian mind made me forget your alleged sins!
It's very simple to just say that though. As much as I agree in theory that it's a solution that will evidently promote coexistence and stimulate the economy and tourism, do you really think there is a chance that all sects will agree on the land? Have you not seen what one simple ceiling can do to Lebanon? I think we need something more drastic to start with.
Federalism is an ideal solution when Lebanon is independent and peaceful, then Lebanese can sit down like civilized people and look at the future of the country and what would be the best for it, logically leading to federalism.
The way I see it, is that if Jamil Al Sayed understands that it is in the interest of all Lebanese to Federalize our country then this is a huge step in the right direction.
Politicians should embrace his call to Federalism and follow through until they get it into the constitution.
