Well, on that precise matter we can't say there is not a common interest between Israel and the Arabs. This doesn't mean they are siding with Israel, rather that Israel and the Arabs happen to have a common enemy -but not enough to make them friends.

Bigjohn I do not post regularly and appreciate your civility. However I would like to debate this issue with you. HA had the support of all Lebanese while liberating the south. Regardless of the fact that HA eliminated the non Islamic resistance(this is a know fact and I can pull up numerous sources). Now Let us evaluate what constitutes a resistance movement. Basically, and I am not quoting, it is the armed movement against an occupation. Now regardless of its Islamic doctrine, HA was a resistance in the face of Israel. Now what resistance, as confirmed by nassrallah, fights in other countries(Iraq, Syria, Yemen.) is that still a resistance?

Next let us examin why Israel is an enemy to Lebanon. They stole and occupied our land? Check. Did they kill our people? Check. Did they steal from our nation ( natural resources, money, etc.) check. So how does that differentiate between Israel and Syria? Now you will probably tell me that Syria was invited in to stabilize the situation during the civil war. Absolutely. But they were not invited to kill us. Rob us. And jail us according to their political agenda.

HA, by interfering in Syria, Yemen and Iraq. Or if you woul rather getting involved in. That negates the resistance title and changes it into a mercenary organization. No more. No less. And people who think that does not make them Zionist. If HA was in Lebanese borders and Isis or nusra invaded we would all stand by it. And join the fight. But now they just added to the fragmentation of Lebanese society. And made enemies of the same Lebanese they were resisting for.

Last but not least my brother. No country will ever rise when a group within that country is more powerful than the country itself. This army people resistance formula is a farce and will never allow a country to have its sovereignty. The actions of HA and the power they hold are pushing more and more Sunnis into extremism and that is a pot waiting to boil over.

Get over it.

I criticize those who deserve to be criticized. SA included. However when you ask me to criticize I think only in relation to Lebanon. Now in that regard very little criticism can be directed at SA compared to say Iran and Syria. While they have their internal faults, they never tried to force Lebanese society to accept and become like them. On the contrary. Lebanon was their Vegas. And however "religiously fanatic" we consider them, we all know when they are here they booze up, drug up and screw anything that moves. The saudi government directed all its aid to the Lebanese state. Do you think they cannot arm the Sunni community as much or more than HA with all the aid they bestowed upon us? Do you not think that they can start a civil war if that is what they wanted to get rid of HA?

Isn't it curious that the Gulf states that rebuilt all the damage from nearly every encounter we had with Israel including most of the damage that happened in Shia areas? That they built hospitals in Christian areas? Schools? Where are the Iranian grants in non-Shia areas? Name me one. Yet we accuse them of inciting sectarianism (again I am talking about the only country I care about, mine).

Next you say the Syrian regime commuted mistakes. Well we are talking about this Syrian regime. They were an occupation force. Just as Israel was. Lebanon has no issue with the Syrian people. We have an issue with this regime that has made no amends for their "mistakes". In fact they continue with them still holding or not disclosing the fate of thousands of Lebanese held there. It is the same as Israel. If the regime changed, offered compensation l, apologized and respected Lebanon and stopped its activities. You think I would have a problem with them? No my friend. I am Lebanese before being Arab. Arabism is dead. Let Palestinians reclaim Palestine. I am here for my country.

There was a time when the Lebanese govt was strong and capable. That was a time before the existence of militias more powerful than it. HA ceased to exist for the reason you mention. HA exists as a forward base for Iran. HA exists to keep Lebanon within the axis of resistance. That was proved when their weapons stopped being pointed at Israel and started being pointed internally and at other Arab countries. Look at any civil war in any country in history. The government only became strong again when it was the sole power and the fight was fought democratically. Nobody is against HA getting their way if won through the voice of the people. However making it through the barrel of a gun keeps them as a militia serving other people's agenda.
