Is there really some people left to listen to that clown? Did he really say "We will remain in our positions in cabinet and we will not allow anyone to confront us"? Aoun, champion of the democracy. The real problem is the incapacity of your group to govern, idiot! Some political groups are meant to stay in the opposition where they can be watchdogs. you're not even good at that - to bitter not to be able to put "General President" on your business card. Enough!!!!!
After the incidents in Tripoli, which did not succeed so far, hizbushaitan and their masters have started the nahr el baed issue, and all that to show the army is not capable of handling matters, ahead of the discussions about hizbushaitan weapons.
just common sense, plus if you take into account the leaked assassination attempts, you get the following:
reduce the number of MPs of M14, so that they can pass an electoral law easily, so they can guarantee legal supremacy for seveal years.
this supremacy, if they get it, will change the face of lebanon
I am sure nobody with a grain of decency listens to Aoun anymore. Of course, this excludes the incompetent idiot screwing his daughter Gebran Bassil.
Allouchi what is more disturbing is that for this clown to be on headlines means that there must be some real warped followers out there keeping him afloat. I'm telling you between them and the likes of FT...this country is in trouble.
I don't know why politicians never name things clearly...Is it intended to feed into the fears of people? Transparency my a$$!
Ya Lebneneh, your flags is more Austrian than Lebanese... Although well representative of the local mentality.
No..no...no....you meant show Hasan Nasrallah how grateful we all are for sending us his lap dog FT.
Aoun: Lebanon is incurring annual losses of $6 billion in the energy sector.
Pssst: did you check to total amount of Hezbollaland's overdue light bills?
How about privatizing it and using the money not lost to the sector towards something else?
Privatize?? What private company would be foolish enough to go collect money in Dahieh?? Nobody is interrested I'm afraid...
"Aoun: We will remain in our positions in cabinet and we will not allow anyone to confront us."
This is exactly how DICTATORS talk!!! Bravo Aounists ... this is who you want for president !!! Someone who doesn't respect DEMOCRACY and doesn't accept to have his ideas confronted or questioned. God save Lebanon from such TYRANTS!
Michael Aoun is speaking correctly. He hasn't actually said anything wrong here, and so therefore you cant criticize him for speaking the truth in this instance.
Maybe if the man checked his rhetoric and his temper people would be more willing to listen to the substance of what he is trying to say. But as long as he acts like a castrated Napoleon, he will have a very hard time reaching out to his political opponents. You can't alienate people and expect them to be constructive with you.
Lets say he made the comments with a calm temper and no rhetoric - which in this article it seems like he did, then what is the problem?
Well in this case the debate would be a lot more fruitful, wouldn't it. I raised no issues concerning what Aoun said today. On the whole, though, I think he is dead wrong on many key, existential issues. But you know what, there is nothing wrong with this. We need diverging opinions and we need heated yet civilized debate. This is what makes this tiny country a giant compared to all other arab countries, for all its failings and all its madness.
Jabal10452 please forgive me but really we have to get over this superiority complex that we are better than our Arab surrounding. Lebanon is worse than all other countries. Nothing works, nobody's right are respected, the state practically doesn't exist and we are continuously killing each other. And now that many of the Arabs have succeeded in their revolutions that leaves us with nothing to brag about. Really we need some modesty and humility before we start building this country!
Aoun: We have a plan we want to implement to end the problem.
Aoun is the epitome of all talk no action, blame blame blame even when he's in charge, no bigger liar.
All politicians in lebanon ar liars. I respect none of them. But why do people always the same technique to avoid admitting when they are wrong: "but he's doing it too" . Just admit that you leader is wrong. He is not god!
Ever since Aoun betrayed the philosophy and political positions he espoused before and during his Paris "manfa", he spouts nothing but idiotic lies. There is not any truth to what he says now or can there be any. Man nakara aslahou la asla lahou, period.
So you say Aoun just lies, and i may agree with you on this, but how do you know what are lies and what is the truth?
Call me old fashioned but if someone betrays me even once then I will no longer believe anything they say at face value. Therefore the rule becomes everything they say is automatically suspect until and unless clear proof to the contrary is available.
Cedar, im a neutral guy but i got to tell you Aoun just does not make any sense, he sounds like a dictator (meaning he doesn't want to accept anyones opinion but his own!!!???
This guy MUST NOT be allowed to rule us... or we are screwed, almost all of us would be screwed (i.e. 99.999% of Lebanese)
I am also neutral most of the time because i come from the foundations of the entity of the lebanese state, and we gave up on it a while ago when Bachir was killed, but who is the alternate to Aoun who posseses a majority christian vote? Geagea? > alot of people think he is a killer or just dont like his personality... Gemayel? > lots of people think he is too weak...
cedar, you agreed with OK when I said there's no bigger liar, so your earlier claim that he was "speaking correctly" was not accurate was it. They all lie, but no one else claims to be purer than purest pure and cleaner than cleanest clean. You seem to be killing yourself trying to defend him and the best you could do is they all do it.
Lance Corporal Aoun,Has become momotnes and very predictable.Michel has no credibility, he's morally and Politicaly deficient. In a self respecting Country Michel would have been court marshaled and given life sentence for the heinous crimes he committed against his Family, troops and country.Shame on you Aoun.
4G, what crimes did aoun commit against his family?
i agree that he is a bastard for leaving the army and the country behind and running away to france, but many people say that the other christian leaders have sold lebanon to the saudis and the sunnies... what alternative is there other then to support aouns christian beneficial measures... (i dont support hezbollah) , but dosent his support for hezbollah even things out because the other christians have supported the saudis and sunnies???
what crimes did aoun commit?
being a political cover for hizbushaitan and the syrian regime are the major crimes against lebanon ayone can make. they amount t treason!
if seriously you are neutral, you can only agree with this.
Ya Cedar. If the alternative is a dictator, a liar and a hypocrite, you don't just follow him because there is no one else. You follow other moderate leaders who make sense. You follow the president and the state. Do Anything but this Aoun. He's the worst. You mentioned that you liked Bashir. The person that fought the Syrians till death. Then how can you align with Aoun when he's siding with the Syrians and defending a ruthless regime? Wake up people.
at the nb of comments aoun receives each time he speaks , should be a great amount of people thinking of him good or bad
Aoun has a lot of negative points. I understand why one would not like him. But he is being fair here. He tried to do a good job for electricity with his efforts of last year but there are forces out there, very strong intelligent forces which are doing all they can to screw and discredit him. He is too blunt to sweet talk them, too weak to attack them since he doesnt have weapons, so he is ending up looking like the failure.
FT, first of all, Hizb was never a true ally, and as you know in politics when you deal with people it doesn't mean they are your allies...they are armed to the teeth and the one is forced to deal with them, look what happened when Rafik Hariri stood up to Syrian/Hizb cartel...he and many Lebanese were killed and remember that Aoun has a signed document/treaty of protection/understanding between with the same cartel, need to say more? ;)
seems only language that country understands is that of violence!!! so too high electricity bill block the roads? The ARMY must post a warning: as of that day, that hour etc.. any road blocks will be met opened VIOLENTLY. In other words, you block roads illegally you may be shot and killed!!
cedar, Aoun fought the Syrians but now he did not only make peace with them but many Lebanese feel that he's also a tool for them. Aoun, allied himself with the armed militia of hizballa that many of us feel that's presently the single greatest threat to the existence of the Lebanese state. Christians/Sunni (Presidents and PMs)and some Shia (Kamel Assaad), Lebanon prospered...the point is no one is a saint but many of us feel that Aoun sold out the country out right.
I read the headline and thought he was going to talk about the closing of the AIRPORT ROADS...I should of known better
Tourism (seaonsal) = $7 billion (20% of GDP) This is a larger loss, you idiot
Lebanon should declare war on the filthy Shiites blocking the roads and burning tires and the local Iranian lackeys/subordinates Sectarian Islamic militia in Lebanon covering for them and on the corrupt Berri Shiite mafia cutting electricity. Only then can Lebanon have long-lasting peace. Oh and keep the coward Michel Aoun around he's amusing.
So to summarize, Aoun will take credit for any improvements in the electricity but blames everyone else for the problems. Anyhow, maybe the protesters should find out where he and his SIL live and block their roads--maybe that would be more effective.
Karim.....you must live in the bakaa valley and been over-exposed to the hasish fumes.
Accomplishing any change for the good in the country is very very difficult. It is soo easy to be in the opposition and critisize and make a sit in in solidere. Aound did not know it is so difficult to rule. Hezbollah and Aoun's tenure as leaders of Lebanon for the past 18 months HUMBLED them. They TRIED with all their forces and goodwill to do something right. But they couldn't because of many reasons. Whatever they claim, they know they failed utterly. They know they cant run the country alone. And this is good news, because they will end up doing a coalition gvt in 2013 with less pretense and more wisdom, we need them. But not to rule us exclusively. We need them to have a bit more humility so to be able to work as part of a team.
I, as well as many others, believe that to be the case. Not so sure that they believe it themselves. HA still acts as arrogant as ever and so does Aoun and his side kick Basil. To believe that they really believe they failed one must see some self criticism and mea culpa coming from them. None are in evidence so far, quite the contrary. Just today Aoun was on his soap box blaming everyone on the face of this earth except his party and HA. Yesterday during the "hiwar"' Ra'ad was threatening that the next interfactional war will be a picnic compared to the previous one. Maybe I am hard headed but I need proof where I still see none. One can hope though.
$6 Billion annual deficit from Energy sector according to Aoun. So why does FT continue to blame M14 for the deficit?
Answer...... read the report from the ICC regarding the investigation of the murder of Rafik Hariri. They have recorded conversations from Syrian operatives (Ghazi Kanaan and Rustom Ghazali) giving instructions to their underlings to spread propaganda blaming Hariri for the deficit to destroy his reputation. This was their attempt to assassinate his character after his murder.
$6 Billion per year, and it didn't start this year. Add it up. What's your response to this FT? Still want to blame M14 for the deficit?
Amazing! I swear!
I've been reading this site for some months now, obviously not for the cutting edge journalism (which is non-existent) but because I like to read the comments.
And as far as I am concerned, FT is the voice of sanity on this site. I'm sorry, I know all of you may disagree with me, but that's just because your opinions are deeply rooted in hatred for him, nothing more.
Let's put aside his biased opinions for a minute (and he has EVERY right to be biased as the rest of you do), and you will notice he is the one with all the facts (the real facts not the twisted ones that you've all been spoon-fed by your media).
That's it. That's all I wanted to say. And I'm going to give him thumbs up where you are all too chicken to do so!
This is what your your 3aouuu suggest: killing and imprisonning all, then govern with peace of mind.
But it is ok to block airport roads to free the 11 pilgrims?! It is fine to put 100s of people as hostages and nto allowed to travel to free those 11?
Stop the double standards w get out of your coma ya Michel, and then hopefuly one day I will be able to let myself call you Mon General again. Till then, you are nothing but a traitor to me.
People give FlamingTurd a hug he's so lonely he's inventing himself imaginary friends, that's so cute!
