Kerry: Prolonged Political Crisis in Washington Could Weaken U.S.
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةSecretary of State John Kerry warned Saturday that a prolonged political crisis in Washington could weaken the United States globally, as the U.S. government shutdown dragged into a fifth day.
"If it were prolonged, or repeated, people would begin to question the willingness of the United States to stay the course and its ability to, but that's not the case and I don't think it will be the case," he told journalists at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in Indonesia's Bali.
His comments came with Congress appearing no closer to resolving the impasse which has shuttered swathes of government departments and sent hundreds of thousands of federal workers home.
In a bid to seize the moral high ground, House Speaker John Boehner, the top Republican in Congress, declared "this isn't some damn game" after a report cited an unnamed official saying that the White House is benefiting from the shutdown.
The shutdown is rocking the U.S. government barely 12 days away from a far more challenging fiscal hurdle -- the need to raise the U.S. debt ceiling or suffer a catastrophic credit default.

In civilized societies and cultures, same as families with strong backbones, with decision makers who are willing to forgo temporary glory and a quick fixes for long term stability and prosperity, often times have to take hard stance like sometimes you do for your children. These societies are the beacon of light and the majestic trees that we dress with shiny ornaments that lasts for generations to admire. What the U.S. should do in the coming years, is to take the technologies that it already has sitting on shelves that would replace our energy dependency from fossil fuel. These counties with natural resources are like clueless good for nothing children who inherit the hard earned assets of their parents and flounder it all ending up in the middle of deadly sibling feud that burns the fores down preventing future generations from respecting and enjoying the majestic trees.
They aren't the only super power. We have Russia and more importantly China in the game.
