Berri Calls for Parliamentary Sessions in August: Lebanon will Defend its Resources
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةSpeaker Nabih Berri stressed that Lebanon is determined to defend its rights and it will not tolerate the violation of its land, water or oil wealth.
He declared during Wednesday’s parliamentary meeting that Lebanon will confront any Israeli attempt to take advantage of Lebanon’s maritime border and offshore resources.
“Lebanon should speed up the decree of the demarcation of its maritime border,” MPs quoted him as saying.
Earlier on Wednesday, the speaker called for a parliamentary session on August 3 and 4 at 10:30 am.
Concerning the electoral law, Berri said that parliament is working on a draft law that will be issued during the August 3 parliamentary session.
The MPs revealed that the speaker had called on the cabinet to change the mechanism that was adopted by previous governments.
“The cabinet should specify the basis that this election system is based on and form a specialized committee to reach a law agreed upon by the concerned sides,” Berri stated.
He warned the cabinet that any delay in this affair will force parliament to take matters in its own hands.
Now the Istizzz is rolling up his sleeves and threatening to steel the executive powers from the gpv in favor of Parliament! That is forgetting with Hezbollah having corrupted the functioning of both under the threat of arms, it wont make a single iota of difference! Now the law can be drafted signed sealed and delivered within 2 weeks! this process is however slower than in Syria and Iran.Democracy at it's best ! Poor Fouad Boutros who took months to come up with an electoral law proposal acceptable by all parites..... Which was subsequently shelved....

Oh please Mr. Berri and all of you ignorant bias lebanese. Israel, the ministry of national infrastructures, has started recruiting technical and auditing services related to oil and gas in Israel. it is advertised in The Economist, this month's issue. GET A NEW PARLIAMENT! A Technocratic one to improve this country's efficiency!
He warned the cabinet that any delay in this affair will force parliament to take matters in its own hands.
It won't be the first and last time you and your thugs will take matters in your own hands...... Imagine this scenario: The speaker of Parliament in any civilized nation is also the head of the filthiest low life scum bag thugs who deal in drugs, intimidate people, and launder money. I guess we are not a civilized nation......
Ya Birri, all of a sudden you decided to work and exercise your parliamentary duties, Are you for real? or it is only when it suits you.
Before deciding on demarcating maritime border, I think you and zballah should start demarcating you real right over lassa, ouzaii, dahieh including all the land you have confiscated and robbed so far from your own people...
Berri and his superiors at Hezbollah love to bark and posture against Israel. Now the Oil and the Gas issues have given them more wood for their fire.
A question to Berri, while Israel can explore and extract the oil or gas using its own technological know how who could in lebanon do that?
We are going to hire foreigners and get into appropriations for research and study that will be all stolen before anyone finds anything.
It is not only annoying but idiotic to embark in another one sided shouting match while we could cooperate with Israel in safely extracting the oil and sharing its benefits.
How about this lovely scenario?
Israel will explore the resources whether we like that or not.
Our sweet patriotic guerrillas will bomb the drilling platform.
Bye bye Mediterranean beach!
