Baabda Officials Deny Date Set for New Cabinet

Baabda Palace officials denied that President Michel Suleiman and Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam had set a date for the formation of the new government.

The officials, who were not identified, told al-Liwaa newspaper published on Monday that Suleiman wants to speed up the consultations over the formation of the cabinet.

But they denied that the president had set any date for the announcement of the line-up.

As Safir newspaper quoted highly-informed sources as saying that Suleiman has set January 6 as the date for the formation of a neutral cabinet whose members would be named in coordination with Salam.

Such a government would lead to dangerous repercussions, the sources said.

Hizbullah has repeatedly warned against the formation of a fait accompli government.

It has been calling for a line-up based on the 9-9-6 formula, which gives the March 8 and 14 alliances nine ministers each and centrists six.

But the March 14 camp is calling for a neutral cabinet and could call for a government made up of only the coalition's figures as stated by al-Mustaqbal movement leader Saad Hariri on Saturday.

hizbushaitan can threaten us as much as they want.
the cabinet formation has to be done according to our constitution.

the cabinet members are chosen by the PM designate and the president.

let hizbushaitan threaten as they want, and if they can kill 2 million people, then they can have the cabinet the way they want.

You are right Geha. It is an attrition war led by the Syrian-Iran regime to dominate Lebanon. Syria has invaded and occupied Lebanon for 30 years. When they withdrew the deal was to pass their role onto Hizbullah. This is exactly what is happening. Any time a leader or a personality voices his or her opposition to Syria and Iran they get eliminated. Unfortunately time is passing by. Generation of Lebanese are leaving the country to make a life elsewhere. Lebanon is not seeing the light. Until when?

The sanioura gov tried to resolve chebaa matter by diplomatic un efforts and demarcation of lebanese borders (refused by syrian regime then and now..) nasralah once said that if 14 march wants to get rid of ha weapons like this they can always try with no hope...
That's their way to act and diplomacy is 14march way.. May be conssidered as weak but yet i still find better than turning into bloody takfiri or hezbo killers in 7ayyar, syria...two sides of same coin..
Only my opinion.. Might be wrong..

what a difference 3 billion dollars of weapons to the LAF it makes :)

judging by the hysteric comments of hizbushaitan officials it looks like this gift is already making its effect.

hoping hizbushaitan will start to understand.
