Suleiman: Lebanon Should Take Advantage of International Support to Form New Govt.
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةPresident Michel Suleiman hoped on Monday that the new year will witness the formation of a new government.
He said: “Lebanon should take advantage of the current international support in order to form a new cabinet.”
He hoped that the cabinet would be formed in early 2014.
Earlier, the president had held contacts to follow up on the latest developments regarding Sunday's rocket attacks from southern Lebanon against Israel and the Jewish state's consequent retaliation.
Suleiman, who held talks at the Baabda Palace with Army Commander General Jean Qahwaji, stressed the importance of implementing United Nations Security Council resolution 1701.
Two missiles fired from southern Lebanon exploded Sunday in northern Israel, prompting the Israeli military to hit back with 20 shells against the South.
No one from either side of the border was wounded in the incident.
Suleiman also followed up on Sunday's assault against Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani, condemning the incident.
“The attack goes against the Lebanese spirit and traditions,” he remarked before his visitors.
Later on Monday, Suleiman telephoned Saudi King Abdullah to thank him for the kingdom's support to the army.
He also received a telephone call from French President Francois Hollande, who renewed his country's support for Lebanon.
The French President expressed his country's readiness to meet the demands of the Lebanese army through coordination between the two countries' defense ministries and army commands.
Suleiman later held talks on the government formation efforts and latest developments with head of the Mustaqbal bloc MP Fouad Saniora.
The president announced on Sunday that Saudi Arabia had pledged to grant Lebanon three billion dollars with the aim of purchasing French weapons for the Lebanese army as soon as possible.
Things seem to be back on right trak.. Too bad it toioked 13 polotical assassinations, assassinations attempts, 7 ayyar, black shirt...
At least seems to be some hope after all... Maybe the rising of the so waited beirut/damas spring of samir kassir and all our martyrs.. Some light far at the end of the tunel.. But still some light...
Imagine
I repeat what I told you in my earlier comments
Dude you should check your typos...
Minus one for you...LOL
You sold our sovereignty to Syria and Iran. You're not in a position to talk about Lebanese sovereignty. Not when you and your terrorist army co-exist along the LAF.
If you refuse these donations, then you show your true face of being against the establishment of a strong army. Hezbollah is the only party with everything to lose with a strong army.
And because I know you're going to mention your Iranian "donations": They come under the condition to maintain Hezbollah in parallel. WE, THE LEBANESE PEOPLE, DO NOT WANT HEZBOLLAH TO REMAIN ARMED !
One Lebanon, one army ! FINAL !!!
That's all folks !
PS: anyone, especially Hezbollah, who opposes plans to build a strong Lebanese army in order to "relieve" Hezbollah of their mission to "protect" our borders" and disarm them is a traitor.
Hezbollah should now focus on building businesses and an economy for their "supporters". Maybe by being constructive instead of destructive, they can become real "citizens", contribute to the real economy (not black one) and pay taxes for a change.
So you say Syria never ever trampled on our sovereignty ? REALLY SOUTHERN ?
They did not jail and butcher Lebanese ? Can you confirm this ?
They did not govern our country until they were kicked out in 2000 ?
They did not rob our economy ?
They did not impose their rule on the Lebanese ?
Bashar is an enemy of Lebanon. Hezbollah does not enjoy the monopoly of defining our enemies.
If you answer NO to any of my questions above, then you too are a traitor to Lebanon. Or a blind fool...
@Southern: Not only you did not answer my question about Assad's action in Lebanon. Stop evading my answers.
Fact is : he's a criminal and his partners in lebanon are all criminals. You side with Assad and protect him, therefore you are a traitor. You also protect his partners in Lebanon who were all caught red handed ! Samaha is the obvious case...
Jamil el Sayyed, another Hezbollah protected traitor who beat up Aounies protesting against Syria and threw them in jail. He has to be hanged for his actions but you made him a saint !
These people have harmed Lebanon much more than Israel or Saudi or any other country. So stop your BS rhetoric about Israel and Takfiris and look at the real ennemies of Lebanon. Assad and his Lebanese gang !
Lebanon is unfortunately resource poor and our main source of income is dead at the moment which is tourism so we have rely on gifts and donations from other nations to maintain order in lebanon so everybody take a chill pill and be thankful we will receive this help .
No one want it the Saudi way. Just the lebanese way. Not the Syrian nor Iranian nor Hizbullah.
