Hizbullah Slams Assault on Mufti as 'Cheap Attempt at Political Exploitation'
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةHizbullah on Monday strongly condemned what it described as a “flagrant assault” on Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Qabbani, after the religious leader was trapped Sunday by an angry mob inside a Beirut mosque for several hours.
“Verbal attacks on religious leaderships are a deplorable attempt to introduce expressions that are alien to our Arab and Islamic culture which respects and revers scholars,” the party said in a statement.
“As Hizbullah stresses its solidarity with His Eminence -- given the Islamic and national position he represents and since he is one of the unifying figures -- it sees in this obscene assault a cheap attempt by some parties to politically exploit the blood of martyrs,” it added.
The party also called on state authorities to “take all the necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such attacks.”
On Sunday, Internal Security Forces commandos evacuated Qabbani from the al-Khasheqji Mosque in Qasqas in a military armored vehicle, after a number of young men erupted in anger over his arrival to take part in the funeral of Mohammed al-Chaar, a 16-year-old teenager who was killed in the bomb attack that targeted ex-minister Mohammed Shatah.
A major commotion broke out inside and outside the mosque as protesters shouted angry slogans in scenes broadcast live by local TV stations.
On Monday, Qabbani said the protesters tried to "kill" him at the mosque.
The angry mob was led by supporters of the Mustaqbal Movement. Qabbani's ties with Mustaqbal deteriorated last year when he met with a delegation from Hizbullah the same day the Special Tribunal for Lebanon indicted four party members in former PM Rafik Hariri's 2005 assassination.
Relations between the two sides were also shaken when the mufti met with Syrian Ambassador Ali Abdul Karim Ali, whom Mustaqbal and the March 14 opposition alliance have on several occasions said should be expelled.
March 14 has also accused Hizbullah and Damascus of assassinating Shatah in a powerful car bombing in Beirut. Both parties have dismissed the allegations as politically motivated.
These thugs and outlaws are the most sectarian filth that ever existed. HA is now worried about Qabbani who was caught red handed with clear irregularities in the Awqaf financial matters. Qabbani is no longer the Sunni Mufti and he only represents himself..... and HA.
Let us recall when M8 thugs invaded the office and residence of Tyre and Jabal Amel AL-Sayyed Ali El-Amine. To this day, he is unable to go back and retrieve his personal belongings.
the only ones to support this thief rejected by his secte!
they are now the defenders of freedom?
What's funny is they did not seem to mind franjieh when he attacked sfeir. Pick and choose. Some attacks are political exploitations and others are not. It all depends on what HA instructs which is which.
he did that on purpose so today he could play the victim, like i said just yesterday right after this masquerade, and so that sheep like you believe it... he is exploiting the funeral of a young boy just for political reasons...
he never dared go to shatah's funeral, too coward to face M14 people but easier to go to this funeral knowing the big M14 figures wouldn't be there LOL
and never was he in danger....
Southern - If they wanted him dead, he would have been dead (I thought ISF is a m14 and wahabi tool). He was shown the door and told he is not welcome there and not to show his face again. Good riddance for the Takfiri Mufti or you have conveniently forgot!!!!
sure thing, esp. the ISF arrived more than an hour after he entered the mosk... if they wanted to "kill" him or beat him they had the time to do so... but the young people were just shouting for him to go away...
but of course, M8 now is exploiting this for their own propaganda...
HA is such a victim. Oh why is life so unfair that everyone picks on them. Life is not fair. all they want is to bring peace and happiness to Lebanon and all these zionists and takfiris are making it difficult for them to achieve such a selfless goal.
I don't think the sunni need hizballa 2 defend them. Jajaja joke of the year. The shia terroristas r gonna get their aSSads whipped.
M14 laughs at Hezz when they accuse Israel of every crime.
Yet you gentleman do the exact same thing. You blame Hezz for EVERYTHING!!
You guys would blame Hezz if you slipped on a banana peal.
Bill- HA blames things on Israel that they are implicated in. even when they are caught red handed such as the Boutrus Harb assasination attempt, the ant elias botched bombing. that is what makes it laughable. As far as who blames HA, well it is not just M14. there is the STL, bulgaria, US, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and a handful more. however, it is all part of zionist conspiracy theory to tarnish their image.
Hulky Hulk Hogan
STL: a joke
Bulgaria: currently facing an upheaval form the citizens and oppositions groups, many of whom do not agree with the "official" story of the bombing which is clearly BS.
US: America helps Al-Qeada while fighting them in Afghanistan. Please spare me what the US defines as a terrorist.
Saudi Arabia: Are you kidding me?????? Are you talking about The Number One sponsor of terrorism, Saudi Arabia??? Pls be serious
"yet, we have lebanese zombies who lick their boots 24/7"
like aoun for years and years ! LOL
Ok bill. There is an excuse for every one of the incidents they are implicated in. If you truly believe that, then there is no reason to take this any further. I mean if you believe that 2 HA operatives settle their car dispute by playing hot potato with a car bomb miles away from where either live or work then there is nothing left to discuss.
What hypocrites! They think people are stupid. They act like their Iranian masters who flagrantly lie cheat and steal in full view of everyone and then deny it.
(1).Southern, I must disagree with you despite my respect to your views. What happened to the Mufti is in no way an attempt on his life, it was purely an expression of outrage over his presence. yes, it was loud, it was also physical but under no circumstances was his life under any threat. What crucially needs to be noted though is this: that the people who oppose the actions of Hezbollah and the M8 alliance it leads are now truly getting exasperated with their constant state of denial to facts that are seriously undermining the survival of Lebanon. Hezbollah is now increasingly behaving as if it was the State in itself, taking decisions and stating policies which are totally against the consent of most Lebanese anyway.
(2). Southern. It's been since 2005 that Hezbollah has been amplifying our nightmare for the sake of anything but Lebanese. Hezbollah agrees with us, then reneges on its promises, and the sad thing is that its M8 lackeys follow up without questioning, (would they dare?). Now as 2013 is drawing to a close, Lebanon now truly looks and feels like a giant prison, one in which the Lebanese are dying for the simple fact that they oppose Syria's hegemony now being replaced by Hezbollah. Lebanon now looks drab and grey compared to that Lebanon of the pre 2005 era. Who is to take credit for all of that but Hezbollah?
(3). Southern. When Syria was booted out of Lebanon in 2005, that's correct, booted out, wasn't that the very best opportunity we had as Lebanese to finally breathe fresh and clean air, as one united people? What did Hezbollah do, but divide the people like never before? How many times has M14 tried to talk sense to Hezbollah, has it ever bothered? Never mind Southern, the truth is, very few Lebanese hate our Shiite siblings, the hatred is only now for Hezbollah that is behaving as if it was God. However Southern, nothing lasts forever. The Crusaders came and left, so did the Turks, and the French and the PLO, and the Syrians, note this down, they all came, and they all left.
(4). Southern. They left, to where must we ask? To where they came from, or? To a borrowed land. But in the case of Hezbollah, the trouble with you is that it's Lebanese, you will eventually go, and go you will, but where to?! Think well dear brother, HA cannot face the Lebanese that are over 2 million that oppose it. In Syria, it is taking the might of Russia, Iran, China and your militia just to be able to barely hold to territory deemed most important for the regime and its backers, do you honestly believe that in Lebanon you can actually tip the scales? Where will you guys go, where, and how?s all.
(5). Southern. Treat the other half of the Lebanese as real partners, because only them will give you the safety net you will need in times to come. Trust me, it's not about hatred, but about the majority of the Lebanese that simply want to live inside Lebanon, in peace, tranquility, prosperity, the law and as equals. No one wants anything foreign but Lebanese and HA seems to have problems with that. Think, a day could be too late, for you and us all. The whole thing in a nutshell for you, people are definitely fed up, and that was what was reflected on the Mufti, take it if you will as a message, that's all.
