Suleiman's Aide: Political Powers Leaning towards Forming All-Embracing Govt.
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةKhalil Hrawi, adviser of President Michel Suleiman, did not rule out on Thursday the possibility of the formation of a neutral cabinet should efforts to form an all-embracing one fail, reported the Central News Agency.
He told the news agency however that political powers “are leaning towards the formation of an all-embracing government.”
“Conditions to form a new government are positive and they are far removed from concerns that a cabinet would not be formed,” he added.
He predicted that a government that grants each of the March 8 and 14 camps and centrists eight ministers will likely be established.
A ministerial statement will be devised by a committee consisting of representatives of each of the camps after the cabinet is revealed, explained Hrawi.
“We cannot predict when the cabinet will be established, but I do not think we have to wait too long,” he remarked.
The announcement of the new government requires that Suleiman and Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam meet before its reveal, but such an appointment has not been made yet, Hrawi continued.
The March 8 camp has recently accepted the 8-8-8 cabinet line-up and it is awaiting the March 14 camp's position on the matter.
Meanwhile, head of the Phalange Party Amin Gemayel announced that the party's position on the government formation process will coincide with that that of the March 14 camp.
He told An Nahar daily Thursday that the March 8 forces have not yet informed the March 14 camp of anything serious about the government.
Yes and go sign for hezbo do continu doing as they want or else...
I also remember a general talking in front of the american congress how hezbos arms were only syrian arms in lebanon and should be removed... What did changed? Hezbollah becoming more patriotic (like 7ayar) more secular?...
Really man?? Really????
Bc i was stupid enough to believe was really a secular guy, bc i really believed he wanted change... Bc i was stupid...
But he made so much effort to open my eyes and see that he wanted was presidential chair.. That's why roar, happy?
wait, isn't there already a leading figure in m14 camp named Jumblat that fits this description.
Sagh
I believe I helped before when you sent me the similar lame comment. I suggest you come up with a better one next time. Your style of commenting is getting old. Time for a better one
Good luck in that dude
the_roar the problem with posters like you and the likes of FT, Mowaten and some others is that you are way above the class of posters that naharnet expected from supporters of the likes of Aoun and the m8 leaning camp, hence the need for the site to introduce their paid obstructers and time wasters. ie Iceman and company.
The issue should not be about 9 9 6 or 8 8 8 - not too important.
I would go so far as to say It should not be about the baabda declaration.
The issue should be about the damned "equation" People army resistance, that equation that prevented the killer of Hashem al Salman (RIP) to be indicted.
That equation implies that weapons of HA are for the service of Lebanon, which we all know is not true, it is just a card for Iran.
Since the leadership of Hezb Iran is not elected by parliament, Hence what they call "resistance" has no place in LEBANON's ministerial statement.
If the chiite milicia wants to continue being armed, let us invent a new "armed" federalism where, in addition to the army, the sunnis would get weapons (their call if they choose to put them under the disposition of saudis), the christians would get arms under their control, in addition to HA's weapons (which obviously are under control of iran)
roar, you are embarrassing yourself even further. What value do you bring to any discussion except garbage.
L_F I thought the Sunni and Christian community were already armed. Don't many of you continually claim that HA would be in for a surprise if they even dared attacking these communities. Please decide, yes or no, are these communities armed or not. Please also spare us the notion that HA's arms are for the sole purpose of Iran, that is a lie and you know it. The fact is that the majority of Lebanese see HA as an integral part in the security of this country from Israel and now the Saudi sponsored jihadist. And as FT points out on several occasions, HA weapons are sanctioned by the Lebanese government. Nothing has changed as I can see.
Citiboy
1- Sunni and christians have light weapons. Shiaa have drones, a telecom system, and long range missiles. Cannot compare.
2- Sunnis and Christians were caught unaware in 2008 when the trash of HA invaded Beirut. (SSNP, Amal and other similar junk). They didnt defend themselves. Next time, they will defend themselves and HA will be for a big surprise.
3- It is very important for Iran to get nuclear weapons. For khamenei, HA is a tool, a rich man's toy, to get his nuclear weapons. The whole israel alibi is a charade. We all know that.
4- Weapons are sanctionned by the leb govt. True. This is the jist of my point. Those weapons, since not under the authority of Lebanon, should be not be sanctioned by the new government.
Then just ask for federalism... It will be more honest than the proposed law, i'm a secular person so just go to hell with those retararded law... That is the "teghiyirr" he was preaching us about?...
U got all this by urself?? Man... That was genius...
Plus one for u, great analysis...
Iran syria an 10 other country who voted against UN resolution against Assad are ur friend, mabrouk...
I chose the rest of the world...

The so called friends of Lebanon are no real friends because nothing is free. Any outside support ALL our leaders get has a pay back. Such payback is generally at the detriment of Lebanon and its citizens. It is an unfortunate situation. That is why I said enough of any leader who gets outside support. he only needs the support of the Lebanese period
cityboy
Maybe they are all armed but their arms are pale comparing to HA arsenal. The ideal is to assimilate the powerful weapons that HA possesses and aim it at Israel. Nowhere else as Israel is the real enemy of Lebanon followed by the Jihadists. It does not make any sense for me to see HA fighting the takfiris in Syria while there are plenty of them inside Lebanon namely the Palestinian camps
coolmec.
Pls dont forget who is working diligently day and night to create strife in our country so that it autodestructs, and who will do anything and kill anyone to prevent the lebanese state to gain a iota of sovereignty. The Syrian Baath party.
The prime ennemy of lebanon is assad. nbr 2 is israel. And nbr 3 is the takfiris.
L_F that makes no sense, one particular country has worked hard and has succeeded in creating strife in Iraq, and Syria. I am sure you know which country I am referring to. Why in the world would Assad be concerned about creating strife in Lebanon, when Syria is hardly even recognizable to what it was only 3 years ago.
Waw sagh again some amazing post; look at this logic:
First a group of guys lead by a religious shiite dirrectly linked to the very secular and progressist islamic iranian revolution who killed true lebanese resistance to get control of south lebanon.. Some guys armed trained who have their own telecom network that no one can oppose, whos militant assassinated protestors in front of embassi, who can shot down a lebnes soldier on an helicopter bc south lebanon is their teritory, guys who takes the streets armed go killing in beirut and mont lebnon bc they are against gov resolutions, guys who protects wanted persons (wanted euther by lebanese judiciary or STL) bc they can.. Guys who threatened to put lebanon on fire bc they want to be in the gov, keep their arms, open wars without letting anyone have a say in it....
Lebanon first
I agree with you as far as who Lebanon's enemies are I happen to put all 3 of them at the same level ecause
1- Assad will never stop in his quest to dominate Lebanon
2- The takfiris will view it as their holy war to conquer Lebanon which enjoys a tolerant and multiconfessional society
3- We all know Israel triggered our civil war with the aim to destroy Lebanon as it is jealous of our country.
So here we go we have these 3 enemies of Lebanon and in the meantime while all our leaders know the dangers the country is facing they cannot get together and reach a fair compromise to salvage the nation
go figure
coolmec
Israel is not jealous of lebanon. Israel's gdp is 5 times Lebanon. Lebanon makes as much money in a year as half of Tel Aviv.
The takfiris are not a risk because hte whole world is against them. Lebanese army took them without means in nahr el bared despite the red lines of HA, it can take them on again anytime.
Our formidable ennemy is Assad whos prime objective is on screwing our country up. And even in his agony, he is still stronger than us.
I am a psecular person he is for a united secular resistance like JAMOUL (u know the kind of guys hezbos use to assassinate in south lebanon)
I am also a reallistic person looking at how assad resisted to israel since the 70s and find no resistance in it, in fact he divided and brought down any reall resistance movement, supported extremists, divided lebanese party and took power over my country (plus implementing a dictorial regim on his people for 40 years:assad father and son)
I'm a person who support people rights fir democracy including bahrain (yes imagine)...
I'm against all march 14 figures (same political families rullibg lebanon..) but find them far less harmfull for my country than hezbollah...
...
If this is what makes arab the laughing stock... Well to hell with them in that case...
Lebanon first
Please do not underestimate the takfiris they are a potent force. Also Nahr el bared is pale as to what we will be facing should it come to that.
Although Israel has a higher GDP but it also has as a mitigating factor its huge defense budget. If you compare the way we used to live to that of the Israelis we do live better and spend more than them. They live in a siege mentality because they were illegally and wrongly created. They don't live but they survive and despite their military strength it is getting tougher for them to "survive" and it will get worse, thus always creating problems in Lebanon or in other arab states. They are buying time.
I agree Assad is an outmost danger to Lebanon as I said he will never cease in his bid to conquer Lebanon thus a lot of problems
I personally think that very soon Assad will be a finished man and at best if he is allowed to remain in power his wings will be severely clipped. If the western powers wanted to finish him off they would have done it long ago but they kept him as he is doing their dirty work i.e. eliminating the takfiris who poured into Syria
coolmec, the west backed off from attacking Syria and now you say if they wanted to finish him off they could have long ago. Havent you realized the wests agenda has failed regarding the removal of the Syrian government. I think everyone in the world knows that except for the m14 posters on this board. anyways, cant agree with your comments but thumbs up for being civil.
Yes a new world prder is on the way, leaded buy glorious dictator putin, docteur el ra2iss el assad, the supreme leader of the islamic revolution, our cosin kim young chi from north korea and the imperialistic west will just fall... U see coolmec, pure logic... Bravo, bravo...
Plus one on this post to cityboy... Again bravo...
Assad was so harmefull to israel that they wanted him to stay... Man get real... He helped to crush the palestinians... Man really assad, resistant?? Really?....
No of course it wont be unconditional but at leadt they gave it to the army, not to an armed sectarian lebanese group like is doing iran....
Man please logic....
Plus one for the effort anyway...
cityboy
think a bit further. The west has ceased to support the FSA because it was taken over by the jihadists. from the western's point of view they prefer dealing with a weakened Assad rather than seeing a victorious jihadists. Obama has not attacked Assad for 3 reasons
1- he is doing their dirty work by killing the takfiris
2- he is effectively powerless stuck in a stalemate thus the Syrian crisis is expected to last for a few years so things are not over yet
3- Most importantly Obama avoided the Israeli trap as by attacking Syria he would have engulfed the US in a regional war with Iran etc... thus falling into the Israeli trap. He wisely avoided it
true, the western powers are just waiting to see who is worth negotiating with. as long as there is no united opposition the west will let the situation as it is. it is not in their interest to get militarily involved. if assad wins , sure the west will still continue their hypocrit relationship with him but if a strong united and credible opposition emerges, they will let assad down.
cityboy
I sense that in a way we are on the same wavelength but I see it a bit differently but I do believe the end results are similar
thank you for your input
another thing being civil is a must unlike some guys here who reserve the right to include insults rather than decent chat
Assad devided plo in fateh and fateh el intifada, popular front to popular front and general comend (ahmad jebril)...and nice try but i'm not really fan of conspiracy theories...
Sorry bro, no plus one on this comment...
Meanwhile, the supporters of the Iranian Occupation Forces rejoice that Lebanon will not regain its independence, but will remain an Iranian colony. Because the groupies of the anti-Lebanon camp have not had grandparents who bled and sweated to achieve Lebanon's independence from France, had not had any relatives who gave their lives to liberate the South of Lebanon from the Israeli occupation, didn't give a damn about who died for Lebanon to become free from Syrian hegemony following Black Valentine's. They don't even care enough to actually read the first statement of the Lebanese Constitution, which makes the Iranian Occupation Forces as scared as the Israeli Occupation Forces before them: LEBANON IS AN INDEPENDENT AND SOVEREIGN COUNTRY!
