Berri: Dialogue is Not a Cover-up for Cabinet, it Belongs to Whole of Lebanon
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةSpeaker Nabih Berri renewed on Wednesday the importance of dialogue in Lebanon, especially under the current circumstances in the region.
He said before MPs during his weekly meeting at parliament: “Lebanon is not isolated from the rest of the region and we should not hesitate in implementing any step that would help fortify it.”
He also rejected claims the national dialogue is a cover-up for the government, stressing that it belongs to the whole of Lebanon and not one party against the other.
The speaker added that parliament will follow up on the government’s actions as it has always done.
In addition, Berri and the Parliament's Bureau Committee set 48 articles to be discussed during the parliamentary sessions on August 3 and 4.
The "dialogue" is a constitutional process? No. Deliberation with regard to public policy should take place either within the Council of Ministers which proposes legislation for the Parliament, or within the Parliament. What structure does the Parliament have for the consideration of proposals that come to it from the Council of Ministers? Are the rules? A committee structure? Or is the Parliament simply Nabih Berri's shop and he is the shopkeeper and he opens and closes when he likes under the terms that he sets.
This "dialogue" is nothing more than an effort to legitmize the Hezbollah led coup government and to consolidate its power. To hell with that. Let Hezbollah dialogue with Aoun.
