Fire in Colombian Prison Leaves 10 Inmates Dead
A fire at a Colombian prison killed at least 10 inmates and injured more than three dozen, prison officials said on Tuesday.
The blaze broke out late Monday at a prison in the northern city of Barranquilla, authorities said.
Officials said the blaze apparently started when inmates set fire to mattresses during a fight at the overcrowded facility, which was built for 400 inmates, but housed about 1,200.
