Report: Cabinet to Pave Way for Series of Settlements Including Hizbullah's Withdrawal from Syria
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe formation of Tammam Salam's cabinet is expected to lead to a series of agreements among the Lebanese arch-foes, in particular regarding the conflict in the neighboring country Syria.
A diplomatic source expressed optimism in comments published in An Nahar newspaper on Wednesday that the newly appointed government would be able to draft its ministerial policy statement swiftly.
The source predicted that the cabinet will obtain a regional support and lead to agreements on several matters including Hizbullah's withdrawal from Syria in a month or so and the release of the Islamist prisoners.
The party has dispatched fighters to battle alongside the Syrian regime against rebels seeking the overthrow of President Bashar Assad.
The diplomat considered that the meeting between Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi and Hizbullah's Liaison and Coordination Officer Wafiq Safa as an indication that all the security and judicial complications will be settled, especially concerning the situation in the town of Arsal in the Bekaa.
The source stressed that endeavors carried out by Arab countries, in particular Saudi Arabia, will provide the necessary cover to control Lebanon's northern border with Syria to end the infiltration of gunmen and arms to pave the way for Hizbullah to end its mission in the neighboring country.
Arsal lies 12 kilometers from the border with Syria and has been used as a conduit for weapons and rebels to enter Syria, while also serving as a refuge for people fleeing the conflict that erupted in 2011.
The Lebanese army has several times seized cars loaded with arms and ammunition in the town and its outskirts.
On Monday, Safa held talks with Rifi to congratulate him on his appointment in Salam's cabinet.
Rifi considered that the meeting “paved communications path that were previously shut.”
"the release of the Islamist prisoners" >> no way on hell. if they are released i will support anyone who decides to execute them. those rabid dogs attacked and killed our soldiers and are only waiting to blow themselves up in the midst of civilians.
judge them or release them, some are detained for months just for having the phone number of somebody suspect...
So if they're guilty judge them, otherwise release them...
Speaking about support to criminals and killers, HizbIran must stop hiding Hariri's suspected murderers...
bs. takfiri propaganda. all or almost all are involved in terrorism and violent attacks against the army or civilians.
why do you think terrorists such as nusra / abdullah azzan want them released?
mowaten what part of it dont u understand ?
If they're guilty, judge them, prove it and hang them.
Otherwise release them. it's called justice, u know ?
HA is incurring a lot of casualties in Syria right now. Reports surfaced yesterday of more than 65 dead in the last week alone. The battle for Qalamoun is not going to be easy for HA despite air, artillery, and tank cover. HA withdrawal from Syria is not a decision the terror party can take by itself. The decision will be made when and if Iran decides.
It is shameful that you are using the name popeye...I see that the free and Democratic Western/Zionist allied Saudi Arabia does not care about Takfiri terrorism in Syria, and is doing everything it can to get Hezbollah out of Syria, in its ongoing attempt to overthrow Bashar Al Assad...

Good news if HA withdrawn from Syria (and of course that wouldn't be a cabinet decision), but why release the islamists prisonners !? They killed the army in Naher Al Bared and in Abra !
coz loads of them have been detained illegally without judgement coz HA/army intelligence wanted to.
Withdrawing Hizbullah is a good idea. Releasing Islamists just like that is bull crap. They should be judged and sentenced if guilty and then sent to the pits of hell. Only if found not guilty should they be released
