Qabalan: No Sect in Lebanon Wants to Eliminate Others

Deputy Head of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council Sheikh Abdul Amir Qabalan on Sunday stressed that “no sect in Lebanon wants to eliminate the other sects.”

“The crises Lebanon has gone through … are political par excellence and cannot be blamed on a certain sect, religion or community,” said Qabalan.

The Shiite cleric urged politicians to “take serious and effective steps aimed at immunizing national unity and reactivating cooperation and communication among the Lebanese, in a manner that would dispel divisions and disputes and strengthen harmony among the Lebanese.”

Qabalan called on the Lebanese people to “leave disputes behind and look forward to a brighter future for their country through cooperation and understanding.”

Addressing the issue of Lebanon’s maritime resources, Qabalan described the recently approved law on demarcating the country’s maritime borders as a “good and promising step towards regaining the Lebanese rights,” urging officials to start oil and gas excavation as soon as possible.

He stressed that “it is unacceptable that Lebanon be floating on major oil resources while the majority of the Lebanese are suffering from poverty and need.”

I've never heard anyone claim that any sects did want to eliminate another. I don't even think Shia's want to eliminate the Sunni's,Druze or Christians.

But a certain Shia party does want to dominate everyone else and force their vision of Lebanon down our throats.

A Fool and a Podium

"Sometimes I wonder whether the world is run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it." ~ Mark Twain

Does this guy actually believe his words? Has he no knowledge of history? The Levant has been murder central for at least 5,000 years, and civil war is again imminent. In the last war, terrorists and bandits murdered thousands of men, women and children at will, defecated in places of worship, and promised to erase the "enemy". Talk to any Lebanese-Canadian for 15 minutes, and the roots of hatred are exposed. Hatred is Lebanon's true enemy. Silly speeches will not erase that.

If Qabalan does not understand that most Lebanese view Hizbollah as a foreign-funded occupation force there is no need to waste any time considering his opinions. March 13 massive demonstrations against Hizb arms demonstrated that majority of Lebanese totally reject Hizbollah and its arms. Even Hizb support among Shia is doubtful and may be similar Arabs coerced support for their tyrants before their fall. Hopefully it won't take the fall of the tyrants in Damascus and Tehran before Shia realize that Hizb is not protecting interest of Shia but leading this great community to the abyss. Hizb survives by intimidation, creates mountains of arms and valleys of hate and destruction. The growing distrust may never heal leading to another Sudan because when Lebanese ultimately have to choose between freedom and fake unity they will certainly choose freedom and split from Hizbollahstan that created a culture foreign to Lebanon's tradition of freedom, openness and democracy.

This is dictated by HA. They now know Syria is not going to last, so they need to soften things up a bit. It will not work unless the Party of Gun gives up on its weapons and plays the political game as the rest are. This will happen either by the party's will or when the new Syrian Government forces them too.
The dawn of the FINAL republic is upon Lebanon.
Everybody smile.
