Aoun to Lebanese: If You Want Electricity then You Should Occupy Parliament
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةFree Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun accused on Wednesday the government of shortcomings in performing its duties, saying that its “lapses of consciousness are unacceptable.”
He said: “The MPs, administrations, and security apparatuses are conspiring with each other and the Justice Minister is obligated to tackle this matter.”
“Some ministers have grown accustomed to politicizing state services, which is unacceptable,” he declared.
Aoun then called on the Lebanese to occupy parliament “if you want electricity and I will support you.”
“We are ready to create a dispute with whomever we want because we have a strong support base and we don’t derive our power from any foreign country,” he stressed.
“A total of $12,000 a minute have been lost because of MPs’ failure to approve the electricity draft law,” he said.
He defended Energy Minister Jebran Bassil who proposed the law, saying that he is seeking to employ them for the country’s interests.
“A thief is not allowed to talk about transparency and we have their files on exploiting funds,” Aoun warned.
Parliament failed to approve on Wednesday a draft law on electricity that was suggested by Aoun.
The draft law allows Bassil to receive $1,200,000,000 to implement a project on producing 700 Megawatts of electricity.
“Parliament is facing a test of either lighting Lebanon or leaving it in the dark,” he told As Safir newspaper, adding “there is no reason for any team to oppose it.”
But March 14-led opposition sources stressed to An Nahar that the draft law gives Bassil the freedom to use the amount of money without referring to the cabinet or without any monitoring by the Audit Bureau.
of ourse March 14 oppose it, cause naturally if they were to pass on this bill they would have added another 5 billion to that figure and cut the percentages off for their pockets before distrributing the other 5 % of the amount to whatever chinese tech parts they could buy off black markets and take another 10 years to build an electric pole with it, five years later demand another 5 million so on..
while lebanon is in the dark these leeches keep leeching and here comes along a general, lets hope he'll save the day. give the man what he needs and get this thing done, OH WAIT I FORGOT MARCH 14 WOULD RUN OFFERING THE TRBUNAL 2 BILLION OVER SOME SLAINED BILLIONAIRE UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF SO CALLED JUSTICE! here you go lebanese if this act is justified to you then forget about your future cause you already have dug your own grave. enjoy the turning in it.
@ Le Phenicien
Are you a nostalgic of the hot district where your roots are?
Do you want the bordello built back by GMA?
It is already in your sick mind.
Enjoy yourself.
the draft law gives Bassil the freedom to use the amount of money without referring to the cabinet or without any monitoring by the Audit Bureau.
very transparent ...
As if Aoun is now saying "you stole and gave back to Assad his cut...
its my turn again"
Isn't this Wednesday? Did someone leave the cage door unlocked from yesterday? We are usually only treated to Tuesday visitations with General Mashnoon.
I like the picture too, off balanced.
So now he's turned on his own government because his boy Thibran couldn't have $1.2 billion dollars to spend as he sees fit to bring electricity to Lebanon 24/7/365.
I ask, would you trust Thibran Bassil with $12.00 to spend as he sees fit?
I'm looking through you, where did you go
I thought I knew you, what did I know
You don't look different, but you have changed
I'm looking through you, you're not the same
Your lips are moving, I cannot hear
Your voice is soothing, but the words aren't clear
You don't sound different, I've learned the game.
I'm looking through you, you're not the same
Why, tell me why, did you not treat me right?
Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight
You're thinking of me, the same old way
You were above me, but not today
The only difference is you're down there
I'm looking through you, and you're nowhere
Why, tell me why, did you not treat me right?
Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight
I'm looking through you, where did you go
I thought I knew you, what did I know
You don't look different, but you have changed
I'm looking through you, you're not the same
Yeah! Oh baby you changed!
Aah! I'm looking through you!
Yeah! I'm looking through you!
You've changed, you've changed
aren,t march 14 now a minority? so even if they voted against the proposal, the majority march 8 dont need there votes. However seems some march 8 mps are also against the proposal. so please don't always blame the other team! when we start blaming ourselves for our problems then we might move forward
No Mr Aoun, they shouldn' t occupy parliament but Dahyie. with a military brigade...destroy all illegal electricity connections to the public network, and collect forcibly all unpaid backbills! Your masters have been steeling and robbing electricity for so long, not to mention other sectors: unpaid customs duties, parallel telephone network, unpaid cell bills etc...Maybe then could then also check some underground arms caches and what have you!
Aren't March 14 a minority? so March 8 do not need March 14's votes to get the approval of the proposal. Unless March 8 are not united. Can anyone advise me how many mps voted for and how many against?
Please stop blaming the other team all the time. The day we understand that we are to blame for our problems is the day we might start rebuilding. A majority does not need a minority to get an approval!
The thief you say? is that thief only amongst March 14? Mr Aoun your own majority didn't provide you will the votes! So what i understand are they thieves as well?
So y would you Mr Aoun be a part of a majority of thieves? is it like the Beauty & the Beast? You clean and the rest of march 8 + march 14 dirty?
Bravo for seeing that! Late as usual. but as they say better late than never! I do hope that all Lebanese see that our so called leaders are all thieves and are blinded by egos! God help the people of this country
If we want to go bankrupt and submit to ur covert corruption, then we should occupy parliament****
How on earth any parliament could approve giving the power to spend such amount of money with no accountability and no auditing.
In other countries a lunch receipt is required.
In Lebanon, you are asking billions to be spent at freedom and at ease and no one has the right to check...
Then the comedy is that we get angry how come our elected parliament did not approve it....
Is this one of Abul Abed Jokes
Aoun's irritation does not come from his concerns about the public's wellbeing. It is the loss of funds that his son in law would have used to strengthen his political support.
Aoun is trying to exploit the fact that the Lebanese treasury has been milked through the years by corrupted politicians but he forgets that he and his allies qualify for the titles he is bestowing on the opposition. A crook cannot judge other crooks.
The only way to fix the parliament is not by occupying it but by conducting new elections after the Lebanese become free and are no longer under the fear and control of Hezbollah’s armed gangs or Syrian proxies.
This parliament is useless, with all due respect to a few of its members, and it should go.
I don't think Lebanese people would care occupying the Parliament since half of them enjoy paying 75 $ for private electricity and the other half is "m3al2in " 3ala khtout el dawle. Unfortunately, when their Leaders ask them to protest they go blindly whether they like it or no (bil rou7 bil dam) . But when it comes to developing Lebanon's infrastructure, and have a decent life, ( normal roads, security, electricity, retirement plans, decent salaries, and balad bala wasayit) no one cares because again the most of lebanese are happy with this chaos (money laundry, prostitution, illegal money, wasayit ...) and the list is endless. I love Lebanon, but I have a doubt that in the near future, Lebanese would enjoy 24 hours electricity.
Khalas jann el zalami... law bitshufu 3uiunu huwwe u 3ambiehki lioum... khalassss... 3atakum 3a2lu :)))) haram... but he was a good guy... thats what i used to think when i was 10 years old... di3anu...
1.2 billion dollars??? With that kind of money u can flatten out Beirut and rebuild it to look better then Dubai !!! But I can understand GMA he calculate lost wages since he was last able to steal from the Lebanese people plus accumulated interest over the last 25 years plus lost investment opportunities is approximately 1.2 bn$ give and take a few million! What he couldn't take over a span of 25 years he want them all in one lump sum payment. Lol we make the check straight to bassil or in aoun's name?
I have a nephew that throws Tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants. He's 3 years old. GMA's tantrum today reminded me of how my nephew sits on the floor of the livingroom sobbing until he gets what he wants!
If you read his body language you can see mental breakdown again. He was bought in Paris. Syria and the Hezz filled his mind with delusions of the presidency, and filled his pockets with Judas money. He stabbed the Christians in the back. Now his dreams of the presidency will cause his final catastrophic mental collapse.
Each month of delay cost $500mill. do we want electricity within a year, Starting work now? Or do we want to wait to see when the "Arab" countries will ready to finance and ensure that they receive a nice 25year buisness loan? I support this bill 100%! It might not be perfect, it might be capable of a cheaper plan that will take longer to build and exucute, but this plan is the first real attempt to get things done.
They are ready to start work tomorrow, and sinoura is arguing for his "Arab" friends at the expense for the Lebanese. Good work. This purly political for the next election. However I too, can not understand how the vote failed and who on the gov, side voted against.
I cannot believe this idiot. This is what I do for a living and we just built 800mw project in the US (higher labor, materials and equipment costs than Lebanon) for $850M (this figure includes design and construction). If I have to guestimate what is reasonable for a 700 MW plant, it should be between $600 and $650M. I guess he and his son-in-law are claiming the rest. Poor Lebanon, she does not deserve crazy people directing it's destiny. WOW
Nice comb-over.
Ado and bigdig, if you dislike Naharnet so much, it's very curious why you post comments here 24/7.
Oh I forgot, it's your job.
Why does not Aounallah speak the truth. What is the real problem of the electricity in Lebanon? Like any institution, the EDL has expenses and incomes. Incomes are collected from the population and expenses comes between others from the salaries of employees. There is an important part of the population (more than the thrid according to performed statistics) who consumes electricity without paying, and living mainly in areas out of control of the state. Their buildings are not even equipped with the consumption monitoring devices that are mandatory for all homes. Many tried to speak out about the subject but they were quickly hushed up. An arrivist like Aounallah cannot be honest and put his finger in the wounds.
To all Aoun blind followers:
As a business consultant who has worked on a power plant project in Iraq, let me just inform you that a 700mw plant costs $600 million turnkey = ready to operate and produce electricity, so i guess budgeting double the real cost leaves a loooot of room for theft, particularly when there are no clear audit guidelines and complete authority by 1 person! Just food for thought
That's the basis of democracy. But the lovers of life (liars) and freedom (liars) and independence (liars) want Mafia Hariri to continue robbing the coffers and pumping fart in dead political bodies of the likes of Geagea. the Gemayels, Fares Soaid (who the heck is he anyway? After his Syrian friends left him, he was not elected to the parilament ONCE), Samir Franjieh (another pathetic fart) and let's not forget Dory Chamchoun al Jabbar. What is true is that Lebanese saying: al loubnani bye7ro2 cherwelo ta yenkeh jaro. mabrouk ya nawar

I Guess Everytime I decide to post a comment I need 2 be doing that several times for few days for them to publish it. But I can do that... That ain't labor work.
Anyway...
I got to a stage that reading this "Thing" called man is making me sick, and commenting on his words seems useless. Let's look at it this way. While Your asking the ppl to go and occupy the parliement.. Who are the ppl that will do that? I think we all know as You know as well the first ppl that will do that are the ppl leaving in Beirut such as Dahiyeh and similar places.. Have those ppl ever payed a power bill? Ain't those ppl the ones that steals Electricity from polls and never pay a bill? So U want them 2 be claiming for something they have been stealing since ever? Why don't U ask them first to start paying before U ask them 2 go and occupy the parliement. Man You are nuts but U know what? Ur followers are more nuts 2 keep believing in You after all.
Here's a Crazy Idea. If you want your electricity. Then pay your Electricity Bill!! Everybody should pay their bill, even Hezbollah. What excuses them except the crap they make up on the street. Give it a rest.
lebanon doesn't need all this money to fix the electricity issue. all we need is that everyone pays his power bill specially aoun syria's raats and hizbshaytan and in dahiyeh and specially the theif h berri and his gang in south lebanon ..soo simple
Oh by the way Le Phénicien!
I bet Your parents doesn't even like You... I can never read a comment by you that makes sense nor can see others liking it.. for example now... 8 dislike what u wrote and 1 likes it... and I bet that 1 is You...
When I heard him last night shouting and yelling...I felt a great pity for him...the neuroleptics are not functionning any more! It is very dangerous if the medicine is no longer effective he can litterally end up in a dementia crisis. I pity him...I pity his followers when they will see what is likely to happen to him.
@Gabby you are spot on. I feel that the biggest problem we have on earth today in Lebanon and everywhere is a lack of integrity and honesty. Some people follow the money regardless of what they have to do to get it-the end justifies the means. Greed is the train that runs it all. Maybe they can take some of the money that Bassil will get and stuff it in his crazy, greedy little hands when he is deceased. I may be poor but at least I can hold my head high as I earn my money the honest way by hard work and have cheated no one.
Forgot to mention my take on the snapshot. Looks to me like he had a nice bowel movement.
For a while now and everytime I read some of this empty skunks Followers of GMA and I start thinking.... I mean GMA surely is General Michael Aoun but I mean come on... It had 2 get another meaning.... Until it hit me and I came back specially to share it with my fellow readers.... GMA You are really a Great Mindless Ape.
Thanks.
Funny thing: If the project would cost 10 $ , you Aoun haters would oppose the project ,even though u will be having 24 hours electricity. you prefer sitting in the dark or paying more than 75 $ for private electricity, so sad for you ... Mish 3ejebkon shi, badkon tetfalso , ou badkon kil shi bil hayin. Only because it's a Aounist who planned it , you must blindly oppose the project... you prefer to smell Zouk pollution and have Cancer from it, and swim in Jounieh in a polluted sea, rather than accepting Aoun's proposal. So let's see, what do u want ? Of course u want to get bribed while working in the public sector, so u can drive a porche , u want to get a la7se when u work at the port, u want to deposit illegal money in the bank, but when it comes to develop the country , you guys blindly throw some accusations just because you hate the person who came up with the project. Anyway, walla 3eb 3aleykon , min mel badkon 2isla7 ou min mayle tenye aktaryit el sha3eb mzabat 7alo.
LebCanadian You are really a DUMB! Who doesnt want Lebanon 2 be a better place? and who doesnt want Lebanon to have a stable electricity 24/7. Do U see anyone commenting and saying No pls we wanna stay in the dark? But instead of that looser that You follow and U say he is a great guy... GMA = Great Mindless Ape... Calling and shouting for a new project that would cost Lebanon more debt... Why dont this looser calls for collecting every power bill that have not been payed by his allies in Hizbollah that are Thousands and Thousands, in Dahiyeh,, , Tari2 el Matar, Places in the south, places in Jabal... Or just for You to open your mouth and be blowing Rubbish air! Get Lost!
