Two Rockets Land in Uninhabited Area in Hermel

Two rockets launched from the Syrian side of the border landed in the Bekaa region of Hermel, the military institution announced on Friday.

"Army units are inspecting the location where the rockets landed, to identify their types and where they were launched from," the army added in a communique.

Earlier in the day, the National News Agency reported that a number of rockets fired from the eastern mountain range landed in Hermel.

Al-Jadeed television said that three rockets landed in an uninhabited area in Hermel without causing any injuries or damage.

It later added however that one of the rockets fell near an army barracks in the city of Hermel.

Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) later reported that a member of al-Rasheini family was wounded in the attack, while VDL (100.5) added that a Bengali woman was injured in the hand in the incident.

The extremist group the Free Sunnis of Baalbek Brigades later claimed via Twitter responsibility for the attack, saying it was a response to Hizbullah's fighting in Syria alongside the country's ruling regime.

The Bekaa has repeatedly fallen victim to rocket attacks from the Syrian side of the border.

Attacks against the Hizbullah stronghold of Hermel are usually claimed by groups that oppose the party's fighting in Syria alongside the country's ruling regime.

The Free Sunnis of Baalbek Brigades claimed on Wednesday an attack on Bekaa's Brital region.
