Aoun to his Allies: We Won’t Remain in Govt. that Lacks an Agenda

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun stressed on Tuesday that he is committed to serving Lebanon, but “we will not remain in a government that lacks an agenda.”

He said after the Change and Reform bloc’s weekly meeting: “They can make do without us as we have other issues, such as the Resistance, that we are committed to.”

“We want to save the electricity file … and our plan will save it from complete collapse,” he stated.

Last week, parliament failed to approve an electricity draft law proposed by Aoun that allows Energy Minister Jebran Bassil to receive $1,200,000,000 to implement a project on producing 700 Megawatts of electricity.

Opposition and National Struggle Front MPs rejected the law.

“Whoever does not know the details of the draft law should not comment on it,” Aoun said.

“Whoever detected a technical impediment to its implementation should reveal it as we don’t have time to listen to generalities,” the MP declared.

On the security situation in Lebanon, the FPM leader remarked: “Since August 13, 2009, six prison breaks have taken place in Lebanon, five of which were linked to the Fatah al-Islam group.”

“The reoccurrence of this matter at the same location is a deliberate crime, which is being protected, and it should not be repeated,” he stated.

The president, prime minister, speaker, and security officials are responsible for the ongoing negligence in this matter, Aoun stressed.

“The repetition of errors has reached the political class and it seems that the new officials have inherited their predecessors’ flaws,” he noted in reference to former Interior Minister Ziad Baroud and current Interior Minister Marwan Charbel.

“Divine intervention won’t rectify the security situation in Lebanon given the current individuals tackling this issue,” he stated.

On Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat’s rejection of proportional representation in parliamentary elections, Aoun said: “He has long accused the Christians of opposing the law. I approve of it, but will he accept the elimination of sectarianism in Lebanon?”

MP Aoun on Antelias blast: We will wait for the investigations’ findings to determine whose view of the incident is correct. It’s better that we don’t jump to conclusions.

  • 16 August 2011, 17:13

MP Aoun: We have worked hard in the electricity file. This is not a sectarian matter. Those who take issue with it are seeking to gain commission from it.

MP Aoun: "Those who have the power to assign and remove officials are responsible for the ongoing crime."

bigdig: "Sayyed Hassan is the effective ruler of the entire country"

Conclusion: Sayyed Hassan is responsible for the ongoing crime, thank you bigdig.

Yes of course general, always against everybody for your personal ambitions, you have seen now that Hezbollah doesnt give a rat's ass about your plans to become president or to regain some power to yourself, you have been nothing but a tool to divide christians so that your votes legally help Hezbollah gain control '' legally '' in Lebanon, although we all know all that happened is because of the influence of their weapons, ask minister Nahhas why the problem with ogero began? and also why did he not give the 1 billion + revenues of telecommunications to the toppled governement on time? and also tell us about the multiple companies that your imbassil son in law put in the names of his wife ( your daughter ) and her sister? also tell us about your history, why did you really fight the syrians? because they refused to give you the presidency, and since it was resistance period back then you said that maybe you could do something about it and maybe come back to Baabda. u are a traitor

Nice picture at the head of this article. It captures the insanity of the man. Aoun is not the problem, he is the symptom of the illness that is Aounism which has infected the Lebanese Christian people of Metn and Keserwan who give this man their support.
It was a poor investment of trust that this guy would at the end of the day pursue what is best for Lebanon by pursuit of his own personal political ambition. It should now be clear that the pursuit of the personal ambitions of Aoun are down a completely different path from the one that Christians should be on who seek independence, dignity and sovereignty for the Lebanese Republic.
To stick with Aoun waiting for an alternative is a losing game. Go out and find the alternative quickly, the need is there. This failed leadership will lead to a failure for the entire Christian community of Lebanon which means a failure of Lebanon as we have known it.

Unfortunately many Lebanese never learn from previous mistakes. Do I need to remind those who are following this guy blindly of what happened last time you stood behind the General?

I just hope this guy does not drag the entire country into a black hole like he did before.

I think it is very timely now to add a new clause to the election law draft, and that is a sanity test. And for sure Mr. Aoun will flunk it with flying colors...

Wake up people, and please send this guy where he belongs, Dayr El Salib !!!

will those Lebanese who will have power 24h a day in 2013 be paying for it?

this idiot has finally realized (ouf it took him some time) that this is the 2nd worst government of lebanon ever and is trying to jump from this sinking ship as his terrorists allies are getting close to extermination. Ad to this the fact that other government allies are not allowing him to openly steal, and he's washing his hands away from everything now.

what a dork! you don't do politics using trial and error

Default-user-icon Youssef Haddad (Guest) 16 August 2011, 19:15

The reasons for which Aoun is turning against his allies are not because they turned lebanon into Iranistan but because he thinks that he SAVED hezbollah politically and therefore he deserves whatever material things he asks for.
Well I believe that Aoun has a lot of leverage with hezbollah. They owe him their political survival in Lebanon.
Unless they want to commit political suicide they have to side with him . The rest who are Hezbollah made too would bicker but at the end will be forced to give Aoun what he wants.
NOTHING WILL CHANGE IN LEBANON TILL THE ASSAD REGIME FALLS. Till then crooks and traitors will keep fighting for the same cheese while hezbollah pursues its "Divine" designs.

You have prepared a Government based on Families and parties allegiance.
Now you are talking agenda....there was no agenda from the beginning....only cosmetic appearance leaf of fig.

No body is linking Sectarian affiliation to electricity ????/ only family allegiance

No one can approve a vague major mega project just like that......

Also the 2006 so called victory was called DIVINE.
Continue with the DIVINE agenda.......

Yes better no government than a government with Divine unknown agenda.

Default-user-icon BullsEye (Guest) 16 August 2011, 20:19

Here we go again with Mr. CL-AOUN
Our minister of energy is not capable of expressing his thoughts on the matter, so he lets his father in law do the talking. Wonder if Aoun also walks Bassil outsde the house, and holds his hand when crossing the street...
Only in Lebanon, country of most wonders...

he wants to wait for the "investigations", a "personal" dispute over money ends up in an explosion that kills two people, this dude does not care if half the lebanese are killed as long as he can be president over the rest, precisely like his mentor bashar, and it seems like he has chosen to sink with the ship
