In his first official statement via a video message in Arabic and English, Fletcher said: ‘‘I am delighted to be taking up this post, and determined to do all I can to enhance the partnership between the UK and this extraordinary country.”
“We will focus our efforts on support to Lebanese stability, democracy and rule of law, and to providing a first class service to British citizens,” he added.
British Defense Attaché Lt. Col. Giles Taylor and Deputy Head of Mission Piers Cazalet accompanied the ambassador.
Fletcher replaced Ambassador Frances Mary Guy when he was appointed in early August.
