Report: Energy Ministry Civil Servants Sidelined by Bassil’s Advisors

Energy Minister Jebran Bassil has signed contracts with 40 people to assist him in the administration of his ministry, sidelining civil servants working in the institution, al-Liwaa daily reported Saturday.

The newspaper said that the 40 advisors have received large-scale authorities. They have assumed full control of all aspects of the ministry’s administration and limited the role of officials in several departments.

Bassil’s move has restricted the role of the energy ministry as a state institution, al-Liwaa claimed.

The minister is currently at the center of a dispute over a draft law that his father-in-law Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun has proposed to parliament.

The divided cabinet has so far failed to agree on the project which allocates $1.2 billion directly to Bassil to build power plants that would generate 700 megawatts of electricity.

So let us review the facts: The two foundations of the Assad/Hizbollah Miqati government are free falling. Aoun is unraveling as another Khadafi in the making depending on Hizb arms for survival. Still missing lots of money to buy loyalty to survive the next phase when justice will come knocking. So the plan is obvious: Aoun-Bassil duo will blackmail a discredited government to approve a blank check to Don Quixote Bassil, the most corrupt of the bunch, so he can amass protection money as justice will come knocking. Well Don Quixote, we have news for you: THE GAME IS OVER!

Well done Jebran, it's about time to start cleaning up the remnants and symbols of corruption. Hope that oether ministers follow suit as well.
This is in no way meant as a vengeance but aims only at discarding those who have for decades either folowed their own interests or those of their politicl leaders to drown the country into a 50+bn$ debt over the years!

Another example of the 'coup d'etat' tactics at all state levels of those outlaws and their masters!

Look at this MORON, he wants $1.2 Billion to buy some new shoes for him and his TRAITOR father-in-law Mr. CLOUN. I bet all those 40 hired are all FPM sheep paid very well on Tax Payers account, what's wrong with the emloyees who are at the ministry right now ? He is setting up his own team for future LOOT. This is a sample of how they will spend the $$ Billions they want for Power Plants. Why doesn't he set up a team to go collect the $$ Billions his HIZBUSTAN Buddies Owe for STOLEN Electricity.

Must be out before he destroys the institution or the infrastructure.
It will become another JAMAHIRIYA electricity Factory , as he calls it , and will be very difficult to put back to normal.

step 1: remove ALL weapons from the state (except for army)
step 2: REAL energy plan that provides Lebanon with 24/7 electricity

@will rogers
Dude, I don't know about you but I live in Lebanon and I haven't had 24/24 hrs electricity for 30 years... So it's probably a good idea to change staff in EDL by whoever.

OKAY so lets say he builds some power plants with this money and adds a few more hours of electricity for people. The point being Aoun is going to make BANK on this bill. Lets say at a minimum 5% of this bill will go to corruption - this is typical - which means 3amo Aoun and his son and law little Bassil will rank in $60 MILLION from this bill.

THIS IS DEFINITION OF MAFIA. FPM WILL TURN IN THE BIGGEST MAFIA IN LEBANON. MABROUK GENERAL.

This guy and his father in law are the biggest crooks. First of all a 700MW power plant should only cost $600M to $700M. Second in no country in the world a minister is in charge of dispensing of funds. The tender process is what decides who wins or loses a tender, that is not governed by one man even in Bangladesh. This is permission to perform open ended highway robbery by this boy and his father in law.

A recurring example of poor reporting. I would like to see Bassil's remarks included as well in this article.
