The Internal Security Forces announced on Saturday that a dangerous fugitive was detained the day before in Beirut's southern suburbs.

“Dahiyeh police station obtained information on the whereabouts of a very dangerous fugitive, who is known as Aa. H.,” the ISF said in a communique.

According to the statement, the 29-year-old is wanted on 23 arrest warrants over the involvement in various crimes such as kidnapping operations, theft, attempted murder and assaulting security personnel.

“A police united raided a shop on Friday in airport road (in Dahiyeh) to arrest the wanted suspect, who opened fire at ISF members as several men tried to stop his arrest, prompting police officers to open warning shots in the air.”

The statement added that the unit apprehended the suspect and seized the weapon in his possession, pointing out that no one was wounded in the operation.

“Unknown assailants later opened fire at the police unit in an attempt to free the fugitive but failed.”

The communique said that ISF is carrying out the necessary measures to arrest those involved in the incident.
