Karami to Miqati: Centrism Doesn’t Work
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةFormer Prime Minister Omar Karami stated on Wednesday that centrism in governing Lebanon “does not work.”
He made his statements in reference to Prime Minister Najib Miqati’s description of himself as a “centrist” figure in Lebanon.
He added after holding talks with Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim Ali: “Miqati should follow his convictions and take the appropriate measures that serve the country’s general interest.”
In addition, the former premier noted: “It would be very difficult for cabinet” to approve the funding of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
Should the government fail to approve funding the tribunal, then the case would be referred to parliament, he noted.
He pointed out that several MPs have not yet made up their mind over supporting the funding or not, and therefore it would be difficult to determine whether the STL would be funded by Lebanon.
The country is obligated to fund 49 percent of the tribunal’s budget.
On regional developments, Karami said: “The repercussions of the developments in Syria on Lebanon would either reinforce the current system or create a major political and national change.”
For once Karami is right! There is nothing called Centrist" in Lebanon. Aoun and his Mps attacked any and all candidates who claimed they were independents or centrists during the last elections. Miqati is not a centrist figure; he was appointed by the group leader of thugs in Lebanon.
Is this a Joke ???

He has nothing else to discuss with the Syrian Government except criticizing the Lebanese government....or it is an addiction.
Sad and sadly selected, elected leaders in Lebanon
