The army opened fire on Wednesday at a motorcycle in the northeastern Bekaa region of Arsal after it failed to stop at the Wadi Hmeid checkpoint, reported the National News Agency.

One passenger from the al-Hujeiri family was wounded in the shooting.

His companion managed to escape.

LBCI television identified the wounded as Bilal al-Hujeiri.

Meanwhile, the army announced that it had arrested Ibrahim Bohloq at the same checkpoint on charges of taking part in the Arsal clashes against the army in August.

“He was heading to the outskirts, using his brother's ID,” stated the army.

The detainee admitted, during interrogation, of being involved in a terrorist attack within a group of 65 gunmen on an army position in August, and causing the death one of the officers.

Investigations are underway with him.

Arsal witnessed in August clashes between the army and Islamist militants from the Islamic State and al-Qaida-affiliated al-Nusra Front.

The clashes ended with the militants abducting a number of soldiers and policemen from the area.

Three of them have been executed, a few were released, while the rest remain in captivity.

Over the past months, the Wadi Hmeid checkpoint has been the scene of a number of security incidents between the army and wanted suspects.

Karim the Alawi you throw around February 14 like it's a joke. Just remember that Rafiq Hariri lost his life i.e got blown up with 20 or so others. Also remember it was that man's death which led to the withdrawal of an occupier, and afterwards the return of exiled/imprisoned leaders

leaders like whom?

Thumb nickjames 17 October 2014, 04:21

Aoun and Geagea unless you were implying sarcastically that they're not leaders lol
