General Security Busts Syrian Network Forging Lebanese IDs

The General Security Intelligence Bureau raided two apartments inhabited by Syrians and detained several nationals, the state-run National News Agency reported on Thursday.

According to NNA, the first apartment lies in al-Saadiyat in the Shouf district, while the second in the area of Aramoun in Aley district.

Several Syrians were reportedly detained.

The offenders form a network for forging Lebanese identification cards for several Syrians, the news agency added.

The Lebanese security forces have been cracking down on Syrian encampments and locations after troops battled jihadists who overran the northeastern border town of Arsal in August.

Some Lebanese justify the measures taken against Syrians, accusing refugees of crime, and urging them to "go home".

Lebanon is currently hosting more than 1.5 million refugees, a figure equal to over a quarter of the country's population.

You're absolutely right @Ysurais, but the fault is also ours, we Lebanese for keeping our doors open and without control, now we're paying the price twice if not thrice. Then lest we forget, we Lebanese still keep playing that demographics game, still not realizing that this kind of game is the most deadly for everyone, the war in Syria has amply demonstrated that Non-Lebanese care less which sect we belong to, we are Lebanese, they are Syrians, that simple. Now all things said and done, all the refugees should start packing up, they have long since overstayed their welcome.
