Hizbullah, FPM Reject Tasking Muslim Scholars Committee with Hostages Crisis
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةHizbullah and the Free Patriotic Movement expressed reservations on tasking the Muslim Scholars Committee with negotiating the release of Lebanese soldiers and policemen taken hostage by Islamist gunmen.
According to the pan-Arab daily al-Hayat, Hizbullah rejects tasking the committee with negotiations over its ongoing campaign against the party and its intervention in the war raging in the neighboring country Syria.
Sources told the newspaper that Hizbullah will not announce to public its rejection to avoid a “sectarian tension.”
The Families of policemen and soldiers held hostage by militants for almost five months met Saturday with MP Walid Jumblat, who has repeatedly called on the government to accept a swap deal to free the servicemen.
A delegation from the relatives of the abducted servicemen held a meeting on Saturday with Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat at the Mukhtara palace in presence of Health Minister Wael Abou Faour.
The families tasked Jumblat with the negotiations, calling on Prime Minister Tammam Salam to swiftly resolve the case.
Last week, the relatives called on the Committee to play a bigger role in the negotiations after Qatar withdrew from the case.
However, the scholars called on the state to officially task them in order to follow up the case.
The security force members were captured when the jihadists briefly overran Arsal in August, sparking fierce battles with Lebanese troops.
Four have been executed so far, and the jihadists have threatened to kill the remaining hostages unless there is a deal to free Islamist prisoners in Lebanon.
Sources told al-Hayat newspaper that contacts will kick off on Monday to reach a solution for the task that could be played by the committee despite reports saying that the scholars could play a role in the release of servicemen away from media spotlight.
bless anyone person, entity, brigade, organization or country that inflicts pain and suffering, death and destruction upon the iranian sectarian terrorist militia and its supporters, members, or followers wherever they maybe.
The fpm prefers to task the khomeini iranian scholars committee. In fact, they have tasked the terror party with everything that pertains to this country from the presidency to customs revenues.
Is there a necessity to prove one more time that the caporal is a traitor?
A traitor destroying the christians and the whole country.
Grandstanding on the blood of our soldiers is the name of their game. Meanwhile HA will do anything, deal with everyone and trade with whoever to save a member of the saintly ashraf el nass. The fate of the Lebanese disappeared and detainees in Syrian jails are no longer a FPM concern, like it was a daily one for 15 years, now that the jailors are allies and benefactors.
Just sectarian and ridiculous. The government should bendable to decide if the clerics are a good mediation vector. Whether they are Sunni clerics or not does not matter. What matters is that the servicemen kidnapped get freed. The refusal of Fpm and hiizbollah shows clearly the animosity and hostility towards the Sunni that those two parties are nurturing for the sole reason as to maintain the dominance of hiizbollah in Lebanon by fueling the Shia Sunni tensions. Unfortunately Aiun is meddling in this game instead of staying away.
...greatpierro, keep mourning..., it won't change anything. Keep crying and insulting whoever you wish, it won't change anything...same for your friends in this forum ...and eleswhere (-:)
As far as i know prime minister said these guys from the scholar committee are not allowed to deal in the name of the gvt...
Just a few notes: Though I fully agree that the priority right now is that the servicemen are returned to freedom, whether the clerics are Sunni or not sure as hell matters, because if they'd been Shia or Christian clerics they would have right away been added to the hostage list. Common sense mate, considering the precedents that these terrorists have set.
Second, everybody with any eyes to see or ears to hear should have already had enough proof that the whole point of Hizb's interference in this whole process is to undermine the Lebanese government, seeing how the LAF have recently scored a few embarrassments against Hizb by dealing better with ISIL than Hizb could, and thus proving to the Lebanese that they don't need arms in Lebanon under Iranian orders, the ones under Lebanese orders should suffice. The hypocritical "liberation" of the Hizb guy recently was more for that purpose - to undermine the legitimate Lebanese Army - than for any such consideration as the guy's life - after all, he had been sent to Syria to kill and get killed, a "shaheed" so-called.
Who told you so? What power do the Sunni scholars have over the LAF. The truth is the the lebanese army was not prepared in arsal and it was a laf decision not to fight as it could have cost many civilian and military lives. The Sunni scholars have nothing to do with it. It is just because you think that the Sunni are not lebanese enough that you accuse the Sunni scholars of being traitors as such serving the propaganda of hiizbollah. Moreover why would the LAF listen to those scholars. What power do they have over our army. The events in tripoli showed two things: 1)when the laf is prepared it can fight the shut out of the extremist. 2) no Sunni scholar not any sunni resident stood against the army but instead supported it. One cannot say the same thing about Shia resident in the bekaa who do not hesitate to stand against the lebanese security forces or the army.
hahahaha! you speak with so much authority and savvy and I wish the government and its ministers could learn a lesson or two from you flamesrower. Somesing Anazar!
Islam. The problem can not, at the same time, be the solution. It is self contradictory and not possible.
Actually the Muslim scholars secured the release of 14 servicemen in Arsal, then their mission was sabotaged
Me too! I reject tasking Muslim scholars with going and potentially risking their lives when meeting with these terrorists. I'm for sending Aoun and Hasan in person.
I am equally against having those two back whatever the price that Daesh or Nusra may impose on us.
As for our heroic servicemen - may they be returned to us safe and sound as soon as possible. #BringBackOurBoys
