Berri Rejects Collapse of Miqati’s Cabinet over Funding

Speaker Nabih Berri has denied that he informed Premier Najib Miqati about the rejection of Hizbullah and Amal to fund the international tribunal, saying the cabinet would have a say on the issue when the draft state budget is discussed.

Berri’s visitors quoted him as saying that as long as the funding is mentioned in the 2012 budget, the cabinet would discuss the issue and the parliamentary majority would vote on it.

“Berri and Miqati have agreed that there is enough time” to deal with the funding crisis given that according to the law, parliament would study the budget and approve it by the end of December or maximum by January, the visitors told pan-Arab daily al-Hayat published Sunday.

Hizbullah has rejected to fund the STL saying the court is an American and Israeli product aimed at targeting the party. The tribunal has issued indictments against four Hizbullah members.

Majority sources told al-Hayat that if Miqati failed to fund the STL through the cabinet and had to resign, he would win the support of Sunnis.

However, Berri’s visitors quoted him as saying that he and Hizbullah “reject the collapse of the government under such circumstances.”

Just discussing this subject is a Bull. When the STL found evidence and issued arrests then the same group that voted before Yes, is changing their mind and saying No because the Zionist are behind it?
Prove your innocence in Court and prove it that it is a Zionist fabrication using the judicial system or are you planning to appoint Ahmedelgan as a Judge for a new STL to find the killers of the 5 Leb figures.

mikati has no choice about resigning: walid beik will declare that he is out of the gvmt if the stl is not funded.
but esteez presented a solution:
any MP can present a law to fund the STL,and this law is voted in the parliament.. and the majority wins...meaning bashar will decide,if the lebanese card is still in his hand.POOR SLEIMAN.

Miqati has become such a laughing stock that even Berri could sack him or keep him. If he had any dignity for the seat of the prime ministry he should resign now. But, I know that he has none and will keep only bulshitting us with his explanation that he's doing what he does for the sake of Lebanon.

So the Hariri government should fall for the STL funding, but the puppet Mikati government can stay on the same issue. They're even hypocrites on the issues that are 'sacred' to them.

The court will happen no matter what. The Hezz and Amal have decided that their false attempts at uncovering their assasination plots are more important than the Lebanese financial system. They could care less about Lebanon.

the hypocrite has spoken... Miqati should have kept his nose out of this arena... he is dealing with a pack of wolves and he will end up being eaten alive and despised by the west...
