Army Intelligence Frees Iraqi Hostage Held in Wadi Khaled

The Army Intelligence succeeded on Thursday in freeing an Iraqi hostage who was kidnapped earlier during the day, announced the army in a statement.

Laith Tamer Salman was kidnapped in the border region of Wadi Khaled in exchange for a ransom.

Army Intelligence units managed to pinpoint the location of the abductors and later raided the area.

It freed the hostage and arrested Hussein Ghazi Ghazi, a Lebanese national who masterminded the kidnapping.

He has a criminal record and was previously tried for various offenses, stated the army communique.

A number of weapons used in the kidnapping were seized and the Army Intelligence is cracking down on Ghazi's accomplices.
