Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif highlighted on Wednesday the importance of dialogue in overcoming crises, stressing that Tehran is prepared for “all forms of cooperation” with Lebanon to help it achieve growth.

He declared during the second day of his trip to Beirut: “We do not meddle in internal Lebanese affairs and neither should other countries.”

He made his remarks during a press conference with Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil at the end of his two-day trip to the country.

“Iran extends its hands to neighboring countries for cooperation,” added Zarif.

He stated that the nuclear deal that Tehran had signed with major powers in July underlines the importance of dialogue in ending disputes.

“We demonstrated that the use of force and sanctions cannot resolve regional conflicts,” he remarked, while noting that countries in the region now have the opportunity to adopt such an approach.

“Lebanon is a symbol of dialogue and constructive cooperation among its diverse people,” said Zarif.

For his part, Bassil stressed that Zarif brings with him three victories during his Beirut trip, the first being “the victory of Lebanon's resistance against Israel” during the July 2006 war.

“He also brings with him the victory of dialogue against international isolation,” he noted in reference to the nuclear deal.

“We have long spoken of the importance of dialogue in bolstering openness,” he continued.

“He brings with him the victory against the takfiri threat,” he stated, while stressing that “we stand in a single trench with Iran in confronting this challenge.”

Earlier, Zarif had held talks with Speaker Nabih Berri and Defense Minister Samir Moqbel.

He had arrived in Lebanon on Tuesday as part of a tour of the region.

He kicked off his talks by meeting Prime Minister Tammam Salam and later Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations, latest local and regional developments, and cooperation between Lebanon and Iran.

Zarif is scheduled to travel to Syria on Wednesday after concluding his trip to Beirut.

go home to your backward country. You're not welcome here and stop interfering in our internal affairs.

Thumb lebanon_first 12 August 2015, 16:03

Better watch out for your Karma Zarif.

The assad clan has created strife in lebanon for 30 years. Now look where they are.

Iran is playing with fire undermining the lebanese state with their milicias. One day, the wheel will turn.

Assiri and the saudis at least contributed 4 Billion USD worth of arms to your sorry nation and have been helping lebanon throughout these years . Unlike your furry Persian friends who have done nothing for the Lebanese ( except their sect ) and instead have been igniting Lebanon since 2000

Like all Kataebs you are an asset of Israel and Saudi Arabia, not the Christians.

Mystic, smoke is coming out of your ears, your imagination is so vivid,...anyway, just to make life simple for you, I am a Kataebi, an LFer, a Zionist, a Wahabi, an Al Nusra, IS, ISIS, yalla, anything goes with you, as long as it doesn't complicate life for you. But as the night quietens, ask yourself what you are, I mean, truly are, certainly not a Lebanese anyway.

Thumb Mystic 12 August 2015, 18:38

What, am I supposed to cry now because you state I'm non-lebanese, I'm called Iranian and shi3a this and that everyday, I couldn't care less.
Where was your patriotism in 2006 when Israel bombed Lebanon to pieces?

You sided with the enemy, and told the Resistance to drop their weapons, exactly as you are doing now. Do you really expect me to reason with you ever then?

Kataebi, not for long, Zarif has come to dish out the hard news for them. Iran cannot be bedfellows with Amreeka the Great Shaytan just like that, this time the US got the Persians but the nook and crannies, but that hurt is still more bearable than going hungry as a nation. Iran's revolution is now truly over, together with its dreams of grandeur, it's more like reality check for Iran. The fact that Zarif visited our PM Salam and advised everyone against rocking the boat means that Iran's policies have changed.

Zarif : Iran Does not Meddle in Lebanon's Internal Affairs

of course! that's why the iranian foreign minister met with hassan nassrallah who is not an elected official but the head of a local militia carrying out iranian orders.

4 hours ago Bassil: He brings with him the victory against the takfiri approach.
4 hours ago Bassil: He brings with him the victory of dialogue against international isolation.
4 hours ago Bassil after meeting Zarif: We welcome here Lebanon's friend who brings with him three victories, one being the victory of Lebanon's resistance against Israel.
