Several individuals including, Tarek Hisham al-Sabeaa and another man from the same family, intruded into the office of the customs chief at the airport Samer Diaa and tried to assault him, NNA said.

It added that the police airport had seized smuggled merchandise that the persecutors were trying to exchange for shoe insoles.

who would barge into a customs official office and assault him fearing little or no consequences except for ashraf al nass. They talk about corruption and they are the reason corruption exists. Here is a statistic for everyone to consider:
In 2009 Lebanese imports totalled $13 billion and customs duties/revenues were $2.7 billion
In 2014 Lebanese imports totalled $21.5 billion and customs duties/revenues were $2.2 billion

Instead of doubling customs revenues decreased! Who is behind this scheme>>>>> Hezbollah. This party forces the government to waive customs duties on billions of good and services under the pretext of material destined for its charity and social institutions. As such, iPhones, electronics, mens and women clothing, marble, electric appliances and building material are imported by shia merchants supported by hezbollah and enjoy customs relief. This is how you get rich when you resist.

you know what is strange mowaten.... I was thinking the same thing exactly, the same!!!! The similarities between us are not just coincidences anymore. I mean we are both shiaa extremists who pretend to be secular and we both are members of the shia resistance, both paid to post, both are sectarian to the bone, both troll and make up accounts to insult people and then pretend we are against such practices.... I hope just because we are similar in all the above ways people don't think we are the same poster.

you think what you wrote makes sense mowaten?

In the last six months alone, Hezbollah imported over 1,000 vehicles ( Jeeps, Vans, 4x4s, ATVs) for their war effort in Syria without paying one single dollar in import/customs fees. They all came in as vehicles for Hezbollah's charity outlets.

deleting my comment will not change the facts the article you posted is of no relevance:
Repost

"You do not know what you are talking about. Even the article that you refer to says that out of the $21.5 billion imports in 2014 only $8 billion were from the E.U. “Leur valeur a augmenté de 20 % depuis 2003, pour atteindre 8 milliards de dollars en 2014.”

The article refers to agricultural imports and their derivatives such as milk, cheese, etc. The custom tariffs on these products were reduced but not entirely eliminated. “Les tarifs de certains produits, dont le vin et le bois travaillé, demeurent toutefois, pour protéger la production locale.”

I am sure the Mercedes and Range Rovers that your hizb of corruption drives you do not pay import duties on but the rest of the Lebanese people do."

The EU agreement is just an example, other agreements were made with the WTO also slashing revenues from customs.

Thumb ex-fpm 14 September 2015, 16:15

move on troll.... the EU agreement came into effect in 2003. The figures I presented represent decrease in custom revenues between 2009 and 2014 and the effect of what you refer to is already included. LOL

posting for the thrid time (because truth hurts)
You dont make any sense, if any merchandise is smuggled without going through customs they wouldn't appear in the imports tally.
The reason for the decrease has nothing to do with smuggling, and all to do with international trade agreements, like the one with the EU which requires us to waive customs fees
