FPM Official: Aoun Mulling National Dialogue Boycott

Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun is mulling to boycott the second national dialogue session that is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, An Nahar newspaper reported.

Aoun is studying his options, a Free Patriotic Movement official, who was not identified, told the daily.

The official hinted that Aoun might not attend the all-party talks “if settlements are reached without resorting to the people, who are the source of all powers.”

“Our objective is to find a radical solution, hear the people's demands and respect the National Pact and the Constitution,” he said.

The official warned that the FPM would not accept to participate in the dialogue if “the politics of settlements overcome all other projects.”

“We had approved to participate in the dialogue to rectify flaws and not to become false witnesses,” he said.

Aoun is expected to take a final decision on his participation in the talks during Tuesday's Change and Reform bloc meeting.

Speaker Nabih Berri chaired the first session of the national dialogue last Wednesday.

The presidential deadlock tops the agenda of the talks.

hello Mystic
I think you know me. I am a friend of flamethrower and I vote on his behalf whenever he asks me to. He asked me to ask you if you knew why he was banned and treated like a diseased leper?

Mystic, I would have thought that somehow a miracle would happen and help you out of your propagandist predicament, alas, you're just getting worse and worse. Your accusations are baseless and senseless and because of that you and the party you support will simply lose more popular goodwill. These days I only respond to you, just to remind you of it.

Aoun is demanding that elections be held and the decision be returned to the people. This is definitely the right thing to do.

A corrupt who stinks. A traitor to the Christians.

yes aoun is demanding like he always does. I beg to differ though on a couple of issues you raised in your esteem comment. I believe aoun will not be calling for electing the president by the people if this illegal parliament elects aoun as president. FYI

Thumb -phoenix1 15 September 2015, 18:22

Rami, the Claoun is not so gullible after all, he knows that even if he calls for the election of the president by the street, he'd still lose it and get humiliated like never before. Aoun is a dirty crook and worst of all, he has no dignity, no credibility and no integrity of any kind whatsoever.

Thumb -phoenix1 15 September 2015, 18:20

Rami, you people exist only on paper. Aoun should have been a satiric journalist and nothing more, he sure does get people like you fired up to say such inconsistencies.

"Election from the people, ect.." excellent idea but u need parliament to rectify and amend the Lebanese constitution/law (chapter 49)... but the parliament is said to be unconstitutional by many? so...

Missing ysurais 15 September 2015, 10:05

On all cases Mr Berri is doing the right thing trying to bring everybody together to bridge gap and find solution. Now true Leb politicians need a kindergarten.

To Whom It May Concern
I, the_roar, a well respected, heavily voted, liked, and admired shia poster (3rd generation Australian) on naharnet hereby declare that until further notice I suspend my membership in this forum similar to what MP Emile Rahmeh ( who got the highest votes in the last elections ) did when he suspended his membership in the Lebanese Parliament in SOLIDARITY with the unlawful, unjustified, and oppressive decision by the administration of this forum to ban my fellow shia poster Flamethrower.
Let it be know to all that such practices by management contradict with the basic fundamentals of the Iranian constitution and free speech in North Korea.
I remain,
Signed

General Aoun right to contemplate boycott, afterlall it's so unfair that they don't let him appoint all his relatives by blood or marriage to high taxpayer bankrolled government jobs.

Science fiction.
I just imagine Aoun losing after assumed popular election.
"I object these elections were fraudulent because they didn't include Syrians"
Or
"These elections are not correct because they didn't consider twice HA supporters"
Or
Maybe some other excuses invented by Bas-Seal in case Aoun passed away under the shoc
