Gemayel Says 'Resistance Approach' Ended, Accuses FPM of Obstruction
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةPhalange Party leader Amin Gemayel on Sunday accused the Free Patriotic Movement of obstructing the functioning of state institutions, noting that the opposition March 14 camp was only interested in seeing the U.N.-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon being funded by Premier Najib Miqati’s government.
In an interview with Al-Jadeed television, Gemayel warned that “we don’t have time to enter a power impasse because the international community, the (U.N.) Security Council and the (Special) Tribunal (for Lebanon) will not wait for us.”
“I don’t believe that there is a tribunal as upright and credible as the STL, and it is highly unlikely that the court is politicized, as it comprises judges who hail from all the countries and the trials are being held in public,” he added.
Separately, Gemayel also stressed that “the approach of resistance has fallen.”
“The Resistance’s weapons destroyed the country in 2006, so how can we describe that as a victory? We labeled everything that took place before 2000 as an occupation and appreciated Hizbullah’s brave stance, but after that years several U.N. resolutions were issued, such as (Security Council Resolution) 1701, and the resistance became useless and approach of resistance ended.”
“Resistance against whom? The UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon)? We have transited from the approach of resistance to the approach of defense, and the approach of defense should be entrusted to the Lebanese army, not to Hizbullah,” Gemayel added.
All this from the president-by-happenstance who brought one of the most populous parties in the history of Lebanon down to only three members: himself counting as one, Selim Sayegh also counting as one, and Sami + Potato Nadim each counting as one half! Talking about living on a cloud!
Common sense, but will the thugs understand. Time to free Lebanon from these criminals.
Cut the vain to the damaged brain by supporting the elimination of the cancer regime that under his control we have paid for 30 yrs enough martyrs and they have always labelled them as Zionist.
You know, I thought Gemayel was a poor leader and a joke of a president. I certainly didn't care much for him. But, as the years have passed, he seems to speak in terms that appeal to the rule of law and to a civilized approach to public service/politics. He is evolving into an elder statesman. I'm not saying he should be president again; just saying that he seems to be among the more balanced and moderate politicians we have in Lebanon.
All the lebanese parties represented the countries that appointed them. They are the vassals of foreign countries. Even worse is that the vassals failed their masters. They waisted our lives and they now looking for decent quality of living but cannot find it. They are all a rotten image of their seniors. The only purpose of a new government should be to hold the following countries accountable: the EU, france, iran, england, saudi arabia, and the united states of america. Which government will be willing to do that?
Do this before your masters come together and say that they want to take you to the international community to trial you under the name of spread of democracy and regionalisms.
That has got to be the most lame background picture I've ever seen. The history of LF and Phalange tells us how they've always collaborated with the Zionists for power, so naturally, someone like Gemayel has no authority to speak about resistance. How many seats this guy has in parliament? 3? What a joke!
In other words Sayed Hassan should be tried for obstructing justice by STL . Who knows he might end up sharing a cell with his friend Bashar ?. I hope they both rot in jail .
