Gunmen Attack Mustaqbal MP Kabbara’s Office in Tripoli
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe Internal Security Forces detained on Monday a gunman, who along with another accomplice opened fire at the office of al-Mustaqbal movement MP Mohammed Kabbara in the northern city of Tripoli, Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) reported.
Kabbara confirmed to VDL the attack, saying the security forces opened an investigation into the incident that occurred at dawn Sunday.
“Nothing scares us,” Kabbara said.
VDL reported that the security cameras at the scene spotted two assailants whom it identified as Mustafa Tarsha and Khodr Fayyad.
Security officers were able to detain Tarsha, while the whereabouts of Fayyad, also known as al-Limby, are unknown, according to VDL.
“I don’t accuse anyone, and the investigation will reveal who are behind these assailants,” Kabbara said.
The army released a statement later on Monday saying that the assailants used a hunting rifle in their attack.
The statement added that it was an “individual incident.”
The army urged the media not to “exaggerate in (reporting) the individual incidents that tend to happen from time to time to prevent its exploitation.”
On Sunday, the MP joined a rally organized by al-Mustaqbal in Tripoli. He was among the speakers of the gathering.
Kabbara said that the rally was a continuation of the Cedar Revolution in 2005, which forced the withdrawal of Syrian troops from Lebanon following the assassination of ex-Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in February that year.
The MP denounced the role of the resistance in Lebanon and the Syrian regime.
the stupidity of some remarks from M8 guys!!!!!!!!!
thigs and more thugs: this is their only language...
Seems that the law of the gun is back after the law of the chair (fight on MTV during Walid Abboud's program).
M8 are a bunch of terrorists, their only contribution to Lebanese political life has been nothing but theft and assassinations. The Ba'ath regime will fall soon, and the Ba'ath sympathisers will follow them to hell, where they belong, with saddam, Qaddafi, Mubarak, Ben Ali and saleh. A nice reunion with Assad the father, let them all burn.
Why do we always have to blame M8/M14 political parties for all that happens? Guys it could be anyone including Palestinians/syrians. Our biggest problem in Leb is that weapons are available to everyone including kids
Our gov regardless M8/M14 should clean the streets from weapons and thugs before blaming each other and STOP issuing non sense gun licenses left right and center
Bunch of political losers either way!
@lebanesy
The problem is that part of your government (Amal/Hezb) IS armed, and has weapons...How do you expect them to clean the streets when they are dirty themselves...
PS: M8 people don't die much, they don't get threatened, they are safe...contrarily to the others!
And the fun begins again, Hizbollah, Amal and Alaweetes will always be accused of anything that destabilize the country's security simply because they are outlaws and they are armed groups making noise and dancing about zionists and imperialism. The rest of the citizens have surrendered their weapons and are jailed in prison if caught with weapons, the above three groups are immune and above the law and they will not surrender the weapons just as the four suspects are not surrendered to ISF
Lebanesy, actually its the other way around. We always blame others and not ourselfs. Besides, had he not been lebanese then his nationality would have been written. Often even in the headline.
