Saniora Meets al-Rahi: Changes in Arab World Bolster Role of Lebanon and its Christians
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe head of the Mustaqbal bloc MP Fouad Saniora stated on Thursday that Christians in Lebanon and the Arab world have long been pioneers in committing to democracy.
He said after holding talks with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi at Bkirki: “The democratic changes in the Arab world therefore help bolster the role of Lebanon and its Christians.”
He stressed the importance of a democratic system and the respect of justice and human rights in creating stability in a country.
Furthermore, the former premier revealed that al-Rahi had conveyed to him his “relief over the funding of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon”, hoping that justice would take its course.
The patriarch later threw a luncheon banquet in Saniora’s honor.
Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel also joined the gatherers.
