Stances Interact after Riyadh Summit, Cabinet Renews BDL Governor Term
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةPresident Michel Aoun chaired an ordinary cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Baabda that tackled agenda items, the outcomes that emerged after the Riyadh summit and renewed the term of the Central Bank governor.
Aoun chaired the meeting in the presence of Prime Minister Saad Hariri and the ministers, NNA said.
Aoun and Hariri held a closed meeting before the session began, talks focused on the latest developments in the country.
The President touched on the circumstances that accompanied the issuance of the Riyadh summit's final statement after the departure of the Lebanese delegation, he said: "Lebanon is committed to what is stated in the oath of office and the government’s ministerial statement.”
He told the cabinet that he called the Higher Defense Council for a meeting on Friday to discuss the security situation in the country and the measures to be taken in several areas, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
The cabinet has also reappointed Lebanon's long-serving (Banque du Liban) BDL governor Riad Salameh for another six year term.
The renewal of Salameh's term sends a positive signal to international investors at a time of regional turbulence when Lebanese banks are increasingly under scrutiny from the U.S. Treasury.
Before the cabinet convened, Minister of Women's Affairs Jean Oghassapian said the outcome of the Riyadh Summit must be comprehended, and parties in Lebanon “need not engage in useless debates about it.”
Whether Hizbullah plans to mark a position with regard to the summit that mentioned the party among terror groups, Hizbullah Industry Minister Hussein Hajj Hassan said “you will learn later.”
For his part, Youth and Sports Minister Mohammed Fneish said: “The government must make a clear position as for the summit's statement to clarify whether it agrees with it or not.”
State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Qanso said: “Before the Lebanese delegation headed to Riyadh, we raised attention that Lebanon must not make a negative position as for the Resistance because it would have negative repercussions on the internal arena.
“Labeling the Resistance a terrorist organization is unacceptable. The statement issued after the summit touched on the Resistance. A proper position will be taken after the cabinet meeting,” he stressed.
Absolutely correct, Justin...the world don't care what Lebanon thinks,
For if they did, they would not be contradicting how Lebanon & its vast majority of citizens think of HA.
Lebanese & anyone who truly cares about Lebanon, understands that HA liberated Lebanon from foreign occupation, HA has defended Lebanon from the most vile evil caled "daesh' from entering Lebanon .
but as you say Justin the world simply does not care what Lebanon thinks...But lets just say thank you to HA for defending Lebanon although no one else seems to care as you correctly pointed out.
"how Lebanon & its vast majority of citizens think of HA."
haha, what is majority to you ya heretic? according to your illiterate irani friend southern, 10% of anything is considered 'vast majority'!
what a troll;)!
My family in Lebanon who used to support hezbollah now calls it a terrorist organisation. Le vent a tourné et leur temps est compté !
The European Union (EU) decided on July 22, 2013 to add Hezbollah’s military wing to its list of terrorist organizations.
USA
In 1997, the US Department of State designated Hezbollah as a foreign terrorist organization.
UK
In 2011 the Foreign Secretary of the British government declared that “Hezbollah’s military wing is banned in the UK as a terrorist group.
etc etc
and they are all Sunni Monarchies!
galaxy, you need to relax, it seems your about to pop an artery or two.
whats with all the name calling? did someone strike a nerve?
If not debate like a normal human being before calling others names.
As for the majority, absolutely...the LAF the GOV & mst civilians support HA...
ok this time I am going to take your worthless iranian word for it, but next time please come up with some evidence like numbers and statistics based on surveys that support your iranian claim the vast majority of lebanese support your iranian terrorist militia. Numbers you know what I mean by numbers... like 1, 2, 3, 4.
Have a good trolling session
I will take the words of the Lebanese Gov, the Lebanese armed forces & its vast citizens over you & your propaganda.
I will also allow actions to speak for themselves, such as liberating Lebanon from foreign occupation & keeping your friends Daesh out of Lebanon.
Facts will do me ...propaganda seems to do you.
Hi southern, mate I know how they behave here, you never get a civilized debate, they wouldn't know how to. It seems they are paid to distort any posts that go against their paid agenda.
but in saying that it works against them, as it proves their agenda with no argument but instead name calling etc.
