3 Indian Soldiers Killed in Kashmir Shooting
An official says a group of paramilitary soldiers have opened fire on each other inside a camp in Indian Kashmir, killing three soldiers.
Paramilitary spokesman Mohsen Shahedi said Sunday that officials were investigating the cause of the altercation inside the paramilitary camp in Kulgam, a town in the disputed Himalayan region.
One soldier was also critically wounded in Saturday night's incident.
A number of Indian military and paramilitary soldiers deployed in Kashmir have been killed in similar incidents in the past.
There are estimated 700,000 Indian troops in Indian Kashmir, fighting a deadly insurgency since 1989. More than 68,000 people have died in the conflict.
