Najm Confirms She Plans to Resign over Independence of Judiciary Law

W460

Justice Minister Marie-Claude Najm said she plans to submit her resignation if the Parliament fails to approve the law on the independence of the judiciary, al-Joumhouria daily reported on Tuesday.

Najm, whose remarks were made in an interview with the daily, said she intended to submit her resignation twice during her six-month period in office.

The first was because of her “disappointment” that the Higher Judicial Council did not take her remarks into consideration in the judicial formations, she said. Noting that PM Hassan Diab dissuaded her from that step.

The Minister said she planned to resign again when the financial and administrative appointments were issued at the Cabinet, but decided to “continue with the confrontation because the rescue path is long,” and that she “will not give up.”

But shall the Parliament fail to endorse the law on the independence of the judiciary, Najm said she will “resign if this law gets obstructed.”

Notice how " She Plans". It's either resign now or just STFU and get on with your Ministry work of fabricating cases against anyone who dares speak badly of your President.

Bring in judges from outside so that they can prosecute MP's and ministers instead of the current system where each sect and politician pick them, How can that lead to a good judiciary system for the country (good for the politicians I am sure).

Judges have to work with what is given them. With your parliament paralyzed by this set-aside of half of its seats to so-called Christians, there is no legislative organ. If this new law is passed, then, as you say, nothing would change, the judges would have seen nothing new. It would be a sprig of parsley on the dinner plate, not for eating.
