Almost a Week since Miqati’s ‘Two Days’, Cabinet Re-Convening Now a ‘Delusion’

“Cabinet won’t convene and everybody is now aware of this,” ministerial sources said.

The sources told al-Joumhouria newspaper, in remarks published Tuesday, that everyone has “adapted to the disruption.”

“Cabinet won’t resume its sessions, and speaking of possible breakthroughs is some sort of self-delusion,” the sources said.

A week ago, Prime Minister Najib Miqati said that “Cabinet will be asked to convene within two days.”

Media reports confirmed afterwards Miqati’s determination to call for an imminent session, considered necessary as it is supposed to discuss the 2022 state budget. It didn’t happen.

Miqati’s government, which was formed in September amid an unprecedented economic crisis, has been failing to meet since October.

The Shiite Duo, Hizbullah and Amal, are spearheading the Cabinet boycott until an official decision is taken to replace Judge Tarek Bitar, lead investigator into the Beirut port blast.

Other political forces, including President Michel Aoun, have rejected any government interference in the judiciary.

This country is the HOSTAGE of Amal & Hezbollah.
For those who kept on refuting, and laughing at this argument.
For the rest of the world.
For all the Lebanese.
It should now be crystal clear.
