A Syrian businessman, who was kidnapped in the Bekaa on Wednesday, has been released on Sunday, reported the National News Agency.

It said that Mohammed Ghayyath al-Jabi was released on the Riyaq-Baalbeck road after a ransom was paid to the kidnappers.

The ransom, which comprised one million Syrian liras and Jabi’s wife’s gold jewelry, was paid after extensive negotiations with the abductors.

The security forces were not informed of these negotiations.

Four gunmen kidnapped Jabi as he crossed into Lebanon from the Masnaa border checkpoint in the Bekaa valley on Wednesday.

NNA said that the four men intercepted his BMW 530 and kidnapped him at gunpoint.

The businessman was sitting next to his driver, Mohammed Rateb al-Mahabin, when the incident took place, it said.

The kidnappers took their hostage and headed towards the area of Bar Elias and Deir Zanoun in the central Bekaa, the agency added.

Oh, Lebanon, this is not good at all. The kidnapping of foreigners seems to be back at full force after 20 years of more or less absence. What is this going to do with the tourism industry do you think? <the government has a job to do here..

Habal, Who rules the Bekaa? Are you dry from the Iranian money since the Syrians are busy with their internal affairs?
