Aoun, Bassil pay overnight visit to supporters at Baabda Palace

President Michel Aoun inspected overnight supporters camping and rallying at the Baabda Palace to take part in the celebrations that will accompany the president’s departure from the palace on the occasion of the end of his term.

Aoun was accompanied by Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil.

The president made his way difficultly through the cheering and clapping crowd.

“I will meet with you tomorrow. It won’t be a farewell but rather a major gathering through which we continue the struggle to rescue Lebanon from the problems it is suffering,” Aoun told supporters.

Some FPM supporters had erected tents on the presidential palace's road to spend the night.
