Bassil says Lebanese consensus obligatory for electing president
Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil on Thursday stressed that the presidential election is “a national juncture and not only Christian or Maronite.”
“We are obliged to agree, especially if we want it to take place in line with the constitution and the needed quorum,” Bassil added, following a meeting with Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X Yazigi.
“We want to reach a salvation program and a president who would also implement this program,” Bassil added.
