Audit Bureau Prosecutor: Names in Red Diesel Scandal to be Announced Within 2 Days
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe Audit Bureau’s acting general prosecutor, Judge Bassam Wehbe, said Friday that the names of persons involved in the red diesel scandal will be announced within two days.
Wehbe said the final report on the probe carried out by the Bureau will be issued within two days and it will include the names of the people who took part in the sale of millions of liters of red diesel to distribution companies the last hours before the end of a one-month government subsidy.
The scandal erupted after complaints that huge amounts of red diesel were sold to oil distribution companies by the Deir Ammar refinery in northern Lebanon on January 18 - the last day of the government subsidy of LL3,000 per jerry can.
The oil companies have reportedly made millions of dollars in profits after selling an alleged 8 million liters at a nonsubsidized price.
Wehbe told the National News Agency earlier this month that those involved in the case would be held accountable.
Asked if the report would be referred to the financial public prosecutor, he said: “It all depends on the final investigations.”
