Franjieh: A 'life-or-death' candidate for Speaker Berri
For Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, nominating Marada leader Suleiman Franjieh for presidency is a matter of "life or death," Nidaa al-Watan newspaper said Monday, as it reported that Berri is holding talks with France to find a settlement that would make Franjieh president.
The daily said in another report that Paris is promoting a proposal that would make Franjieh president, former Ambassador to the U.N. Nawaf Salam Prime Minister and Lebanese businessman Samir Assaf Central Bank governor.
It added that Saudi Arabia and Washington insist on a president with a recovery plan, regardless of the identity of the candidate.
But since Saudi Arabia hasn't announced that it opposes the election of Franjieh, and since the Vatican is discussing the presidential file with Hezbollah, and after the China-brokered deal between Iran and KSA, Franjieh's changes have improved, the report said.

Nabih Berri will forever be known for two events:
1. Freezing parliament for 2 years to prevent the international tribunal and protect Hizbollah assassins. An act that destroyed downtown Beirut and set the wheel of economic collapse, irreversibly damaging Beirut reputation, suffocating Cedar Revolution achievements, and transforming Lebanon into a banana republic under Basij occupation.
2. History seeing in him enabling Teheran 2010 massacres when Iranian educated and productive part of Iranian society raised up against the oppressive Iranian revolutionary guards and were killed in the thousands by the Basij for asking the same freedom and democracy Lebanese Shia had, Berri sided with the Basij against the aspirations of the Iranian people. Green Revolution would have succeeded if Lebanese Shia supported it. That’s his legacy! What a phony heir to the great Imam Sadr who would have been killed by the Hizb/Basij if still alive as many reformers.

The days of free money from Gulf States is over and rightly so. If any future assistance it will be in the form of investments with profit going back to these countries. We remain extremely grateful for inviting thousands of qualified Lebanese to participate in Gulf growth and development. They were the lifeline that prevented hunger. On the other hand, Lebanon due to its democratic history is by far the most stable country in the Middle East once liberated from Basij occupation and no arms outside army as in any respected nation. Luckily, Lebanese in and out of the Country have the technical and monetary resources for a quick rebirth of Lebanon pending one of 2 solutions: Hizb disarmament or dividing the country as Duo supporters have elected a model contradictory to what Lebanon is, so each community can live to its full potential. Then no Saudi, US, French, Iranian or any other bailout is needed once we get rid of Basij cancer. Cedar Revolution II will insure this happens soon!
