Mawlawi meets al-Rahi over municipal vote
Caretaker Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi met Thursday with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi in Bkerki and discussed the municipal elections.
"I have stressed on the need to hold the municipal elections," Mawali said, after the meeting.
"We are ready for the elections administratively and funding is the only obstacle," Mawalwi affirmed.
Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab had announced, after a joint committees session Wednesday, that "it has become impossible to stage the municipal elections," as he blamed the government for failing to secure the needed funds.
