Franjieh meets Assad, bets on Russian efforts with KSA
Marada Movement chief Suleiman Franjieh held a meeting last Wednesday in Damascus with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, accompanied by his wife, a highly informed Lebanese source said, despite recent denial of the visit by figures close to Franjieh.
Franjieh “tried to explore whether the Arab openness toward Syria would lead to Arab and Saudi acceptance of his election as president,” the source told the Nidaa al-Watan newspaper in remarks published Thursday.
Assad answered that his recent talks with Saudi officials “did not at all tackle Lebanon’s domestic files, but rather Hezbollah’s links to the regional arenas,” the source added.
Separately, the source said that “Franjieh is betting on what Russia has told him regarding its endorsement of his nomination and that this endorsement is being translated into quiet Russian efforts with Saudi Arabia in a bid to lift the veto off him.”

The last time 14 March compromised on a pro-Hezbollah presidential candidate, the Lebanese economy imploded.
I do not know why France is pushing for Franjieh. It makes no sense at all.
I do not think that attaching Nawaf Salam to Franjieh will be beneficial to Lebanon's economy or to Nawaf Salam.
As long as we have Nabih Berri and Hezbollah's weapons, no real reform will happen and Lebanon will remain unstable.
Salam will not be able to manoeuvre and he will get burned.
A conspiracy theorist will tell you that giving the country to a Hezbollah superfan like Franjieh, will make it easier to bomb it to oblivion once Iran's nuclear and missile capabilities are destroyed via air and missile assault by Israel and potentially the US. (And after the Saudi-Iran deal, Saudi Arabia will escape Iranian revenge post air and missile strikes on Iran).

Two great leaders, it would be nice to let Franjieh follow his grandfather's footsteps. People should let him take the reigns before judging him. He has a history of violence committed against his family by the phalangist devils that many here on Annahar supports. Never the less, Frangieh will not carry any grudges with him into Baabda he said, and this means alot for the country to move forward inshallah. The decline of the West and their failure to break Russia in Ukraine have taken the Eastern hemisphere to New heights, and even Saudi Arabia bowed down to the East instead of the West.

Your western American and French friends are preoccupied with Russia in Ukraine, they don't have time for you in Lebanon, this is the reason that they will cease to care in the Middle East because Ukraine is closer to their home and main focus. You phalangist supporters and other weaklings have to wake up and see that it is not your time anymore, you do not have momentum and the wind is not blowing on your side.
