Lebanon, UNIFIL hold first meeting of 'joint action team'
As part of the ongoing dialogue, coordination and cooperation between Lebanese authorities and the U.N. represented in UNIFIL, the first meeting of the two parties’ joint action team was held Thursday at the Grand Serail, the Lebanese Foreign Ministry said.
The meeting was attended by representative of the Premiership, the Foreign Ministry, the Army Command and UNIFIL.
“The meeting aimed to discuss the best means to implement UNIFIL’s mandate in Lebanon and to address any flaws on the ground,” the Ministry said in a statement.
“It has been agreed to hold the upcoming meetings in a periodic manner, in order to strengthen constructive and sustainable partnership between the two parties and to preserve stability in south Lebanon and the region,” the Ministry added.
“Lebanon emphasized its respect and commitment to the implementation of all U.N. resolutions, calling on the parties concerned to follow suit in this regard,” the Ministry said.
