Representatives of KSA, Qatar, Egypt, France and the U.S. met Monday in Doha to try to find a solution to the Lebanese presidential impasse, before French Envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian's return to Lebanon.

Media reports said the talks were "positive" and "serious in seeking solutions" and that the attendees supported Le Drian's proposal for a dialogue to break the presidential impasse.

On Sunday, French Ambassador to Lebanon Anne Grillo said Le Drian's mission is very clear, it is "to create conditions for a peaceful dialogue between the Lebanese parties who do not speak to each other."

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea had said last week he would not waste time on a vain dialogue with Hezbollah and asked Le Drian not to call for it.

On Monday, al-Akhbar newspaper said that the LF party is meeting with other opposition forces to agree on a unified stance against Le Drian's dialogue.

Also on Monday, another daily, Asharq al-Awsat, reported that the U.S. has warned France about its support for Franjieh, due to which it would fail to be a mediator between Lebanese parliamentary blocs.

Can someone tell me why Egypt is in there? Egypt is a bankrupt country who has nothing to offer us and has never offered us anything. Egypt should leave the group of 5 and unfortunately the evil country, the country of death and weapons, Iran, that armed half the lebanese against the other half should be there. Because our shias are the servants of Iran and in our weird country constutution each metweli counts as 1 human being each, so we should let Iran in.
