Israel's Gallant warns Hezbollah that Beirut could face similar fate to Gaza
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has warned Hezbollah that launching a war would result in widespread destruction in Lebanon similar to that in Gaza, where Israel is battling Hamas militants.
"If it (Hezbollah) makes this kind of mistake here, the ones who will pay the price will be first and foremost Lebanese citizens," Gallant told soldiers on Israel's northern border in remarks relayed by his office.
"What we're doing in Gaza, we can also do in Beirut," he added.
“I am saying here to the citizens of Lebanon, I already see the citizens in Gaza walking with white flags along the coast and moving south,” Gallant said.
“Hezbollah is dragging Lebanon into a war that may happen, and it is making mistakes,” he cautioned.
Gallant also noted that the Israeli Air Force is using less than a tenth of its power in the Gaza Strip.
“Our pilots are sitting in the cockpit, the noses of the planes are pointing north. We have enough to do in the south, but the Air Force is facing north and its power is very great,” he warned, referring to the Lebanese front.
