Miqati to Call for Cabinet Session as Soon as ‘Problem is Resolved’

Prime Minister Najib Miqati said on Wednesday that the cabinet crisis which erupted earlier in the month hasn’t been resolved yet.

“The cabinet’s (work) is ongoing and there is no problem in the government,” Miqati said after holding talks with Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain el-Tineh.

Asked by reporters when he would call for a session, he said: “When the issue is resolved, we would immediately call for a meeting.”

But “the problem hasn’t been solved yet,” he stressed.

Cabinet sessions were suspended on Feb. 1 after Miqati accused ministers loyal to Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun of obstructing the government’s work.

Miqati has stressed he would not make any compromises and conditioned the resumption of sessions on reassurances by the ministers that they would be productive.

The prime minister told the reporters in Ain el-Tineh that he visited Berri to inform him about his latest official visit to Paris where he met with top French officials, including President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Miqati said he informed Berri about “some issues that were discussed in Paris.”

so help me out here: "the problem hasn't yet been solved"? Apparently each of the sides are standing their ground. so then how can it be resolved? hmm let me think. ahhh umm, wait for Bashar to give the green light? ahh ummm wait for Wali al Faqih to give the green light? umm ahh continue to milk the situation so Aoun looks like a tough guy trying to fight for the Christian rights while Miqati looks like a tough guy trying to fight for the Sunni rights, which in return will hopefully translate into votes in 2013?

This country is a joke and the current government is taking us 6 feet under and their supporters are ignorant or need them to get a job...
